The man paused, his tone grave. "It's to prevent assassination by poison. With a resistance built up, the toxins will spread much more slowly, buying more time for medical treatment."
Cyril’s eyes glazed over, a hint of disbelief in them.
Had the Ravenshire family's security protocols really been considered to this degree?
Cedric added, "The vaccine requires three doses, one per year." To ease Cyril's nerves, Cedric made sure to tell him, "The other young masters have also completed their vaccinations."
Dr. Cole drew the medicine into a syringe. "Mr. Cyril, are you ready?"
"I am."
The vaccination went smoothly. As it happened, Cyril watched the needle pierce his skin, his gaze unusually calm.
At that moment, only one thought crossed his mind: if he were to kill Dorian, poison would be the worst possible method.
When Cyril came out of the inner room, the old man had already changed into an outfit for going out.
"Let's go. We're heading to the west suburbs. I'll have Jasper show you the ropes today. Cyril, why don't you just watch for now and join in tomorrow?"
"Alright." Cyril subconsciously touched the injection site on his right arm.

A summer morning carried the scent of fresh grass, and sunlight scattered fragmented shadows across the room from the windowsill.
"Vivienne~ Vivienne~"
In a daze, Vivienne felt a fly buzzing by her ear. She instinctively swatted at it, only to feel a sharp prick in her palm.
"What was that?!" She snapped awake, leaping out of bed in fright.
Bianca replied, "Didn't you say I needed to grow up? I thought about it all night and decided to listen to you, turn over a new leaf, and start fresh from the top."
Vivienne sighed, closing her eyes in frustration. "So you gave yourself a buzz cut?"
Bianca said, "My mom never liked my hair, but I actually kind of liked it. I thought about it for a long time before coming up with this way to show you my determination."
Vivienne's fingers paused, and she looked up at Bianca.
The tag above the girl's head still read 'Stupid,' but for some reason, Vivienne couldn't bring herself to dislike her at all.
If she had just wanted to change her hairstyle, the most effective method would have been to straighten her hair and dye it back. If she just wanted to show her determination, it was even more unnecessary. The effort to improve oneself was a promise you only needed to make to yourself.
But influenced by her tag, Bianca would never arrive at that conclusion.
Vivienne nodded, playing along. "Okay, I see your determination."
