“Impossible!” Bianca didn’t believe it at all. She was going to be the president, so how could she be some side character?
“I get it. We’re co-protagonists, so from now on we…”
After a label was removed, a new one would be generated based on the character’s state of mind. Bianca’s head was currently filled with immature fantasies, and Vivienne was genuinely worried about what kind of bizarre label might pop up, rendering all her efforts useless.
Heaven knew how hard it was for her to restrain herself from losing it every day.
“Stop!”
To prevent any accidents, she quickly cut off Bianca’s dangerous line of thought, her tone unusually serious. “From now on, you are forbidden from thinking about being a protagonist or not. And starting today, you must take every step with care and build a solid foundation of good character, understand?”
Vivienne rarely used such a commanding tone with her, so Bianca nodded quickly. “I understand.”
***
Before they knew it, the end of August had arrived.
During their two months in Alderwick, Vivienne and Bianca had learned to sit and stand with proper posture. When they put in the effort, they could certainly pass for poised young ladies, and elder Mrs. Crowhurst was already quite satisfied with their progress.
If there was one lingering regret, it was that they had never managed to earn Mr. Marsh’s forgiveness.
Soon, it was time to return to Aurestead City.
Cedric had already called several times to report their travel plans. Marissa and Tessa had packed their luggage early in the morning, and Vivienne and Bianca were in the main hall saying their goodbyes to elder Mrs. Crowhurst.
The old manor hadn’t been this lively in a long time. The thought that this vibrancy would disappear once Vivienne and Bianca left filled elder Mrs. Crowhurst with a profound sense of reluctance.
Bianca usually had a rebellious and unruly demeanor, but on the day of their departure, she cried louder than anyone, and no amount of comforting helped.
Just then, a maid entered the room.
Elder Mrs. Crowhurst quickly stood up. “Mr. Marsh, please have a seat.”
Bianca was completely bewildered. “Why is Great-Grandma being so polite to Mr. Marsh?”
Vivienne smiled. He was a venerable professor of literature, and his students were everywhere. It was said that the professor’s grandfather had even been a mentor to the current Queen of Solenforth. If it weren’t for the coincidence that Mr. Marsh had returned this year to pay respects to his ancestors with his grandson, they wouldn't have had a chance to hear a single lecture from him, no matter how hard they tried.
Only Bianca would have the nerve to point at him and call him a country bumpkin.
Elder Mrs. Crowhurst smiled and nodded. “School is about to start, so it’s time for them to go back. The children have offended you in the past, and I hope you can forgive their youthful ignorance.”
Theodore shook his head. “You’re too kind. To be honest, I came today because there’s something I want to ask Bianca.”
“Me?” Bianca was baffled.
Theodore turned to her, a smile in his eyes. “Would you be willing to become my student?”
