In the VIP hospital room.
Cyril, dressed in a blue-and-white hospital gown, stared blankly at the IV bag above him, watching the fluid drip down drop by drop.
“What kind of father are you? You don’t even know your son is allergic to seafood? Do you have any idea how serious the consequences could have been if he wasn’t so lucky?” From the hallway, the old master’s scolding of Dorian drifted in and out.
A short while later, the door was pushed open from the outside, and Caspian walked in with a grim face.
“Grandfather.” Cyril coughed lightly, weakly propping himself up.
Caspian’s stern expression immediately softened into relief when he saw Cyril was awake. He rushed forward to stop him. “Lie back down. You’re still very weak.”
Cyril looked around the room, a hint of guilt in his voice. “Grandfather, I’m sorry for causing you so much trouble.”
Just then, Dorian entered the room. Seeing Cyril awake, his face lit up with joy.
“Cyril, you’re finally awake! You scared us half to death.”
Cyril lowered his gaze. “I’m sorry for troubling everyone.”
Caspian frowned. “If you don’t know what to say, then don’t say anything. The boy just woke up, why are you telling him all this?”
Dorian looked embarrassed and quietly stepped aside.
To build his grandsons’ endurance and independence, Caspian had specially arranged for Jasper to plan a survival training exercise.
Considering Cyril and Julian were still children, Jasper had lowered the difficulty, allowing them to carry canned food to maintain their energy.
But no one had expected that the canned food Victor prepared for Cyril was all seafood. In order to complete the mission, Cyril endured for three days before finally collapsing.
If Julian hadn’t found him in time, the consequences would have been unimaginable.
Caspian still felt a wave of fear just thinking about it. “You child, you nearly scared your grandfather to death. Why didn’t you say you were allergic to seafood? And that Victor, what kind of caretaker is he? Why did he specifically pack canned seafood for Cyril?”
Cyril glanced almost imperceptibly at Dorian, his tone gentle. “Grandfather, Victor didn’t know I was allergic to seafood. You can’t blame him for this.”
Caspian shook his head. “If you don’t tell him, how is he supposed to know? To be so negligent is a dereliction of his duty as a butler. Don’t try to defend him. When Cedric gets back, I’ll find you a more attentive caretaker.”
The old man rarely lost his composure like this. It had to be something serious.
Could it be…
Dorian felt the blood in his veins begin to boil with excitement.
Cyril’s brow furrowed, his gaze dark as he watched Dorian.
The fierce authority of the patriarch flared in Caspian’s eyes. “Find them! If you can’t, none of you bother coming back.” With that, he hung up on Cedric.
“Find who?” Dorian probed cautiously. “Dad, what on earth happened?”
Cyril looked worried. “Grandfather, are you alright?”
Caspian shook his head and slowly sat down, leaning on his cane. After a moment of silence, he finally spoke. “Cedric just called. They were ambushed on the way back.”
Dorian looked astonished. “Who would be so bold? What a grudge they must have against the Ravenshire family to go after two young girls?”
