Caspian spoke. “Their target isn’t the girls. It’s Alaric.”
“Alaric?!” Dorian froze for a second. “Dad, what does this have to do with Alaric? Isn’t he at St. Helorian Chapel?”
Cyril’s lips twitched. Dorian truly was a politician worthy of an Oscar for his hypocrisy; even his own father couldn’t see through his act.
Caspian didn’t reply.
The truth was, he had secretly sent Alaric back to Alderwick as soon as he returned from his studies abroad. This time, under the guise of picking up his granddaughters, his real intention was to personally bring his heir back.
But he never imagined that despite such a meticulous plan, the information had still been leaked. What he expected even less was that Vivienne and Bianca would be caught up in it.
“Dad!” Dorian seemed to finally get it, his expression turning serious. “Are you saying Alaric is also in Alderwick?” Then, the man’s eyes widened. “Dad? Did something happen to Alaric?”
Cyril glanced at Caspian.
The atmosphere became utterly silent.
Caspian shook his head. “Not Alaric. It’s Vivienne and Bianca.”
“?” Dorian’s expression froze, this time for real. “Bianca and Vivienne?”
Wasn’t Alaric the one Dorian wanted to assassinate? Cyril’s eyes flickered. “Grandpa, what happened to them?”
Caspian said, “Bianca was thrown off the mountain road, and Vivienne jumped after her to save her.”
Cyril frowned. He understood the first half of the sentence, but the second half made no sense at all.
Why would that little runt jump?
As soon as Dorian heard that Alaric was safe and sound, and that the ones in trouble were two insignificant people, half of his good mood instantly vanished.
But to keep Caspian from noticing, he took out his phone. “Dad, I’ll go inform everyone.”
With something this major happening, the useless members of the family did indeed need to be notified.
Caspian stood up. “Cyril, you focus on getting better. Grandpa will come see you after I’ve found your two sisters.”
Cyril nodded.
Caspian turned, his eyes suddenly turning deadly.

That psycho was not only crazy but also brainless, full of misguided cleverness.
Did she really think she could find Bianca just by rolling down from the same spot where she fell?
Force, weight, and the direction upon landing—every factor would affect the outcome. She was chasing a ghost, using an outdated map for a landscape that had already shifted.
What should have been a search for one person had now become a search for two.
Alaric truly disliked this feeling of events spiraling out of his control. Just thinking about it gave him a headache.
“Mr. Alaric?”
Seeing his silence, Cedric thought he was upset and, after a moment’s hesitation, reminded him in a low voice, “Um, you’ve been at St. Helorian Chapel for the past few years, so you might not know. Miss Lexton is now the old master’s favorite child at Obsidian Estate.”
Alaric raised an eyebrow, finally showing a hint of youthful contentiousness.
“She’s Grandpa’s favorite? What does he like about her? That she’s stupid? That she’s crazy? Or that she has a mouth so foul you can’t stand to listen?”
Cedric fell silent.
Since entering St. Helorian Chapel, Alaric rarely showed his emotions. Cedric was a bit taken aback and wisely kept his mouth shut.
