Chaos Girl Rewrites the Script novel Chapter 135

Cyril was standing right outside the door. The room wasn’t soundproof, and Dorian hadn’t tried to be quiet, so he had heard everything clearly.

After about ten seconds of hesitation, Cyril raised his hand and knocked. “Dad, it’s me.”

Dorian glanced toward the door, hung up the phone, and turned to sit on the sofa. “Come in.”

The door opened, and Cyril walked in slowly. He had just finished his IV drip and hadn’t fully recovered. His face was deathly pale, looking as though a gust of wind could knock him over.

A rare trace of warmth appeared in Dorian’s eyes. He gestured to the empty seat beside him. “You haven’t recovered yet. Why are you out of bed?”

Cyril obediently sat down. “I’m fine. I overheard your phone call just now, so…”

Dorian raised a hand to cut him off, staring straight into his eyes. “Cyril, be honest with me. Do you blame me for what happened this time?”

Cyril shook his head, his gaze gentle. “Dad, why would you think that? I was happy to be able to do something for you. It’s just a pity that I was still useless and couldn’t keep Grandpa here.”

At his words, the smile on Dorian’s face deepened.

Without a doubt, he was very satisfied with Cyril’s answer.

Dorian was a suspicious man. The last time Cyril’s allergic reaction hadn’t occurred, he had wondered if Cyril thought he could act defiantly now that he had the old master’s backing. That was why Dorian had deliberately not hidden this assassination attempt from Cyril and had even tasked him with finding a way to detain the old master.

And Cyril had performed his task well, even better than Dorian had anticipated. Dorian was never stingy with praise for a child who could complete a mission so brilliantly.

He smiled and replied, “Hey! Cyril, don’t say that. You did very well this time, and I saw it all. Tell me what you want, and I’ll be sure to compensate you properly.”

Cyril’s eyes lit up slightly, and he struggled to contain his delight, shaking his head. “I don’t want anything. It’s just a shame that I was too hasty and ended up implicating Victor.”

“Oh?” Dorian saw the look in his eyes, his expression growing even more amicable. “To achieve great things, you can’t get bogged down by minor details. While losing Victor is a pity, it was worth it to win Grandpa’s favor for you.”

At this point, Dorian had dismissed his previous suspicions about Cyril. In his view, Cyril had already proven his loyalty with his life, so there was nothing left to doubt.

Cyril forced a smile. “You’re right, Dad.”

The two looked at each other—a picture of a loving father and a devoted son, the scene filled with warmth.

The man’s voice was low, his eyes fixed grimly on the two lambs waiting to be slaughtered in the ditch below.

In the hospital room, the air grew tense.

Dorian sat with his legs crossed, a cold smile on his refined, scholarly face.

Cyril glanced at him and guessed his answer.

Dorian appeared elegant and proper on the surface, but his heart was incredibly dark and twisted. He had always been jealous of Sebastian Ravenshire, hating him for getting all the Ravenshire family’s resources simply because he was the heir of the main branch, allowing him to climb to the rank of High General at such a young age.

And what about him? After decades of diligent work, he had finally reached the position of Speaker of the House, only for the old master to cast him aside without a second thought.

Now, all that was left of the main branch was Alaric. Given the old master’s favoritism for his direct heir, there was no doubt that Alaric would be the future head of the Ravenshire family.
