Lucian whispered in his ear, "Are the men from the Shadow Guild all here?"
Benedict nodded.
Lucian said, "Have them search outside the designated area. Be careful."
Benedict's chubby, round face tensed, a murderous glint in his eyes. "If those bastards really came down the mountain to harm two little girls, I'll personally bash their heads in."
In Benedict's eyes, Alaric was the future head of the Ravenshire family. To wear the crown, one must bear its weight. If he died in an assassination or a conspiracy, it only proved he wasn't worthy.
But Bianca and Vivienne were different. They were daughters of the Ravenshire family. Their deaths wouldn't shift the balance of power. If the assassins were still targeting two young girls at this point, their intentions were clearly sinister.

The Ravenshire Estate.
Dark clouds hung oppressively over the estate, and the courtyard lights were already on despite it being daytime.
The lilies in the large water basin by the hall couldn't withstand the beating rain, their petals scattered across the surface. The basin filled, overflowed, and filled again, over and over.
Elder Mrs. Crowhurst knelt in the family chapel, her hands pressed together in prayer.
The atmosphere in the estate was suffocating. Even the main hall, which had been bright all summer, was now cast in shadow.
Outside the window, the rain falling from the eaves formed a massive, roaring curtain. Alaric, half in profile, tapped his long fingers rhythmically on Little Stray's shell.
"Young Master." Wesley lowered his umbrella and pushed the door open to enter.
The young man's fingers paused, and he looked up.
Wesley said, "The old master has arrived."
Alaric's eyes showed a hint of surprise. "Grandfather is here?"
Wesley nodded. "All three branches of the Ravenshire family have come. They're at the mountain road now."
Alaric thought for a moment, then stood up. "Let's go."
"Yes, sir."
"Wait." Just as Alaric stepped over the threshold, he seemed to remember something and turned back to the window. "Bring it."
Wesley was dumbfounded. There was no one else in the room. His eyes darted around until he finally spotted a turtle crawling on the table.
Wasn't that the turtle the little lunatic had secretly slipped into his pocket?
That was the 'it' the young master was talking about?
Wesley turned back to confirm, but Alaric was already gone. Without further hesitation, he carefully placed Little Stray in his pocket and hurried after him.
The moment she saw Bianca, the countdown in her mind had transferred.
Vivienne scanned their surroundings warily. She had thought the countdown would disappear once they climbed out of the ditch, but it hadn't. That meant the danger wasn't over yet.
But what was the real danger?
Just as she was trying to figure it out, a man in camouflage emerged from behind a large tree. The three of them suddenly came face to face.
All three were startled, especially the man, who looked as if he had seen a ghost.
The strange atmosphere lasted for three seconds before Vivienne snapped out of it, grabbed Bianca, and ran.
This man had a gun. His reaction to seeing them was fright, not relief, which meant he wasn't one of the people the Ravenshire family had sent to find them.
So… he was the real threat to Bianca.
The man scratched his forehead in annoyance, then unhurriedly took the sniper rifle from his back.
"Hey, boss, it's me. They saw my face."
He listened to the reply and then hung up.
The man's lips curled into a twisted smile as he loaded his rifle and aimed at his two pathetic prey.
