"Get lost," Julian snapped. "Stop begging."

Aurelia couldn't stomach the broth either. Realizing money was the easy way out, she quickly pulled out her own phone. "Julian, I don't have that kind of cash on me. Can you spot me first? I'll pay you back when Dad gives me my allowance next month."

Julian grimaced in disgust. Were these kids secretly debt collectors in disguise?

Sighing, he punched in his password.

A mechanical voice chimed from Vivienne's phone: "FortunePay has received one million dollars."

Now it was Vivienne's turn to be stunned. She always knew Julian was loaded, but not this loaded. He was a walking ATM!

"That covers all three bowls," Julian said dryly. "The rest—"

"Is a tip for my excellent customer service?" Vivienne grinned.

Julian crossed his arms. "Dream on. The rest is a deposit. Knowing Grandpa's vicious tactics and the way things are escalating around here, punishments are going to become a regular thing. Best to keep a balance for emergencies."

"Forward-thinking."

Vivienne praised him, happy to play along now that she had the cash. She casually grabbed Julian's bowl and downed the brain matter in three big gulps. Without missing a beat, she reached over and polished off Bianca's and Aurelia's portions too.

Julian couldn't even look. But he had to admit, this kid had some serious guts. At least she wasn't afraid to swallow garbage.

Perhaps infected by Vivienne's fearless spirit, Alaric and Cyril finally lifted their lids and started drinking. They drank as fast as they could, practically swallowing the chunks whole without chewing. By the time they finished, both boys looked pale and sick, their throats bobbing as they fought to keep the broth down.

It took several minutes for their complexions to return to normal.

When Cedric pushed open the dining room doors, he was mildly surprised to see everyone sitting in perfect order. That surprise deepened significantly when he realized every single bowl was spotless.

"Cedric, are you done inspecting? Where's Grandpa?" Bianca asked.
