Reginald Montclair tactfully stated his reason for visiting, hoping the Ravenshire family could provide an explanation. In response, Caspian seamlessly revealed the two assassination attempts Harrison had orchestrated against Cyril.
Your son wanted my grandson's life, and my grandson simply beat him up in return. No matter how you spun it, the Montclairs had no moral high ground here.
Reginald had absolutely no idea things had escalated that far. He immediately tried to downplay it as a petty feud between children. The Everharts and the Blackthornes, acting as mediators, also wanted to smooth things over. These were powerful families; a full-blown war would leave everyone bleeding.
So, an unspoken agreement was reached to let the matter go.
The peace talks had reached the final stage of sipping tea and burying the hatchet—until it was violently derailed.
Inside the Main Hall, Cyril looked as calm as a gentle breeze, Vivienne was sporting a literal bird's nest on her head, Bianca had three bloody scratches across her face, and Harrison's wheelchair had been upgraded to a medical stretcher.
The grand room, which previously held just four elders sipping tea, was now packed with an audience. The atmosphere was incredibly tense.
Looking at the three troublemakers, Caspian felt a mild heart attack coming on.
The most bewildered of them all was Reginald. He had just finished apologizing, only to discover his son had been beaten into a paralytic state.
"Mr. Ravenshire, what is the meaning of this?"
Caspian closed his eyes briefly before looking at the three culprits. "Explain. What happened?"
Cyril looked the picture of remorse. "Grandpa, it's my fault. If I had just admitted I was wrong sooner, none of this would have happened."
Bianca looked completely defiant. "Grandpa, Aunt Victoria insulted my mom. What gives her the right to talk about my mom like that?"
Vivienne looked entirely justified. "He threw a glass at Bianca. He attacked first."
Caspian's gaze shifted between the three of them. He let out a slow breath. "Why were the three of you in the parlor to begin with? Shouldn't you be at school?"
Cyril met the old man's eyes, immediately understanding the assignment. He led the charge. "Mrs. Ravenshire summoned me. She demanded that I grovel to Mr. Montclair."
