Caspian took a slow sip, pretending to mull it over before speaking. "Cyril... since I made the decision to bring him back, he is a child of the Ravenshire family. If a Ravenshire child makes a mistake, they will be punished by family law. But if they did nothing wrong..."
Reginald instantly understood the unspoken threat. Caspian was demanding justice for Cyril.
The two families had reached a truce, but now the Ravenshires had just purchased Harrison's beating with a billion-dollar copper mine. To balance the scales, the Montclairs had to answer for Harrison sending hitmen and snakes after Cyril.
A brief flash of struggle crossed Reginald's eyes before he closed them, forcing a calm expression. He turned to his butler.
"Carry him out."
Mr. Finch froze, momentarily stunned. After a second of processing, he hurriedly flagged down two bodyguards to lift the stretcher.
Harrison whined and complained the entire time, shooting venomous glares at Vivienne as he was carried away.
Once they crossed the threshold of the Main Hall, a bloodcurdling scream echoed from outside. The sheer agony in that piercing sound made everyone wince.
A moment later, a panicked Mr. Finch came sprinting back in. "Sir! The bodyguards accidentally slipped. Harrison fell off the stretcher and... and broke his legs."
The collective breathing in the Main Hall paused for a second.
Reginald had completely sacrificed his own son's legs in exchange for the copper mine.
Graham and Edmund had obviously anticipated this outcome.
With Ethan Montclair still rotting in a cell and a mountain of family scandals waiting to be scrubbed, Caspian knew exactly what bait Reginald couldn't refuse.
From the second Reginald stepped foot on Obsidian Estate, Caspian had controlled the entire tempo of the room.
The two patriarchs subtly exchanged glances, assessing their old rival. He was still a ruthless, cunning predator.
Reginald fought to suppress his emotions. "Mr. Ravenshire, what do you think?"
