Right on cue, four maids wheeled in eight racks of designer clothing into the Main Hall, followed by four more carrying an assortment of luxury boxes.
Vivienne was genuinely stunned.
Bianca casually glanced over and practically leaped into the air, her eyes shining. "Hermes! Chanel! Dior! All the latest season!"
Talia covered her ears. "Stop yelling. These are Vivienne's new autumn clothes. I just picked up the first batch. We'll swap them out when the new arrivals drop. The accessories and bags are over there. You can style them however you like."
"What about me?" Bianca practically drooled.
Talia gave her an exasperated look. "Didn't you used to hate it when I bought you clothes? The dresses I got you either ended up shredded or on the dog."
Thinking about it reignited Talia's frustration. "Bianca, I am warning you. I'm letting your terrible fashion slide while you're young, but the second you turn sixteen, if I ever catch you wearing blinding neon leather pants again, I will personally take a cane to you!"
Bianca was stunned into silence for a second, but then her face split into a sycophantic grin as she grabbed Talia's arm. "Oh, Mom! I was just a weirdo back then, I'm a sweetheart now! Don't wait until I'm sixteen, save me from myself right now! I'll wear whatever you buy me."
Vivienne felt a mix of amusement and a sharp ache in her chest.
In her past life, Talia had died shortly after Bianca turned sixteen. She never got the chance to dress her precious daughter up like a princess before she was gone forever.
Bianca probably didn't want to live with that regret again either.
Talia frowned, looking at her daughter with mock disgust. "Your issue isn't just the clothes anymore. You need a complete overhaul."
Bianca nodded aggressively. "Overhaul me! Look, I even shaved my head! Doesn't that prove my commitment?"
Talia's expression remained highly skeptical. "You said it, not me. Fine, I'll pick out a few pieces for you later."
Bianca shrugged nonchalantly. "Whatever, I don't mind. Vivienne is prettier than me anyway. If I have to be the sidekick, I'll be the sidekick."
Talia's brow furrowed, the relaxed look in her eyes sharpening into something intense. "Bianca, do not ever entertain such a dangerous thought."
Bianca blinked, looking at her mother in confusion. "What's wrong?"
"Are Vivienne's beauty and your beauty mutually exclusive? If you become beautiful, does that mean she has to become ugly? Is it an either-or situation?"
Bianca shook her head. "That's not what I meant."
"If that's not what you meant, then change your perspective," Talia said firmly. "Vivienne is gorgeous. Because you love her, you should work hard to shine just as brightly and stand shoulder-to-shoulder with her.
"Never label yourself as someone content to play second fiddle. Human nature is not something you should test. Rather than risking the day when playing the sidekick breeds resentment and poisons the love you have for each other, you should both bloom wildly. Whether the end is brilliant or tragic, at least you pushed each other to be magnificent."
