Where was this?
In the pitch-black chaos, tiny specks of green light floated around her.
When Vivienne reached out to touch them, the green lights instantly swirled together, forming a book covered in green vines.
The book emitted a faint green glow. It was boundlessly large, standing before her like a colossal gate reaching for the sky. Tiny vines, like seaweed swaying in the deep sea, stretched out in all directions.
[Narrative Realm]
Vivienne jumped back like a startled cat.
The Narrative Spirit had said that once her consciousness connected with the [Narrative Realm], her character tags would be reinforced. She had worked so hard to return to the past; she couldn't let herself become that puppet Vivienne again.
"Disappear, now! Don't even think about controlling me," she defiantly shouted at the book before her.
As soon as she spoke, the immense, sky-high gate dissolved into countless specks of green light and vanished into the darkness.
It was that obedient?
Vivienne stared warily at the floating lights in the night. "Narrative Spirit? Is this your doing? Narrative Spirit? Show yourself!"
What happened next was even stranger. As the word "yourself" left her lips, the floating lights in the darkness gathered once more, and the [Narrative Realm] reappeared before her.
What was going on?
Was this thing voice-activated?
Just as Vivienne was trying to figure it out, the [Narrative Realm] before her scattered into a galaxy of stardust and dissolved into the chaos.
"Vivienne... Vivienne..."
Who? Who was calling her? Vivienne slowly opened her eyes. The morning light was a bit harsh, and she squinted, only to see Serena's face come into view.
She froze and shot up in bed.
Serena frowned. "Vivienne, what kind of thing is that to say? Have you forgotten what I just told you?"
She wasn't lying. Cyril was a black-hearted scoundrel, but he was blessed with a deceptively angelic face. In her past life, he had left a trail of broken hearts, playing with the emotions of everyone who fell for him.
Serena couldn't help but give Vivienne a second look. "Vivienne, you sound like you don't like the second branch of the family. Did someone say something to you?"
Vivienne replied, "No."
"Then you..."
"Are we going or not?" Vivienne interrupted, annoyed.
Serena finally remembered the pressing matter at hand and reluctantly turned away. "Fine, you hurry up. I'm going to check on Isabella."
Vivienne grunted in response. Once Serena had left the room and was completely out of sight, the impatience on her face vanished instantly.
