*Are you kidding me with this plotline? He just asked if the show was good, not if he was entertaining!*
Vivienne's mouth twitched in sheer disbelief.
Cyril's heavy gaze lifted slowly, a terrifying depth swirling in his beautiful eyes. "Who exactly... are you looking down on?"
With that second question, any remaining urge to yawn vanished instantly. *No way.* Had her entire 'playing dumb' act actually been seen through by him?
"Cyril."
Dorian walked over with a warm, polished smile, his gaze drifting over Sienna as if by accident.
The young girl looked visibly shell-shocked. When Cyril brushed past her, panic had flooded her face. But the moment she realized he had chosen his own adopted cousin instead, the relief washing over her was palpable.
*Yes. That's my boy,* Dorian thought with grim satisfaction. He already knew exactly how to play the game of manipulation at such a young age.
Cyril lowered his eyes, masking the suffocating darkness within them, and slowly straightened his posture.
By now, Dorian had reached them. "Vivienne, how is your recovery going?"
Caspian had already made his stance on Vivienne perfectly clear in the parlor. Dorian offering her such a warm greeting now was a calculated move meant entirely for Caspian's eyes.
No one else might have noticed, but Dorian saw it clearly—though the old man was sitting in the center of the VIP circle, his eyes kept darting toward their corner of the room.
Realizing this, Dorian felt a surge of pride in Cyril. It made perfect sense how the boy had managed to win the old man's favor so quickly. He was putting in the work.
Vivienne couldn't figure out what the hell was wrong with this father-son duo. Cyril was one thing, but why was Dorian suddenly playing the doting uncle? In her previous life, Dorian hadn't spared her a single glance from beginning to end.
But she couldn't exactly throw a fit in the middle of a crowded banquet. She forced a bright, polite smile. "I'm feeling much better. Thank you for caring... Dorian."
Dorian nodded in approval, shifting his attention back to Cyril. "Come with me to greet your grandfather."
Cyril's expression softened into a gentle, picture-perfect smile as he glanced at Vivienne. "Aren't you coming over to say hello to Grandpa too?"
Vivienne shook her head vehemently. "It looks way too serious over there. I'm too scared."
"You silly girl." Dorian chuckled at her childish honesty, deciding not to press the issue. "Cyril?"
Cyril smoothly withdrew his gaze, turning to follow Dorian through the crowd.
"Mr. Ravenshire looks so elegant and refined, not at all like..."
This was no place for careless chatter, and the person who had nearly spoken out of turn swallowed the rest of the sentence in a panic. The other girls immediately scrambled to smooth over the awkwardness.
"Oh my god, Vivienne! Your cousin treats you so well! He didn't even greet Mr. Ravenshire before coming straight over to talk to you!"
"I'm so jealous! He's incredibly gorgeous. Not a single bad angle even up close. How is that even possible?"
"Ugh! It's so annoying! Why is my brother such an absolute jerk?"
Vivienne stood there, completely deadpan. "..."
"Hey, brats. What exactly were you two just talking about?"
