It was too far, and the banquet was too loud, so Vivienne couldn't hear what she was saying. But after a flurry of wild gestures, Benedict rubbed his forehead in exasperation and finally told the bodyguards to let her in.
She was unbelievable.
Vivienne almost cried from the sheer absurdity of it.
After a while, the door closed. Benedict gave the bodyguards a few instructions and headed back to the banquet.
Seizing the opportunity, Vivienne slipped back to Vellmont Lodge.
Marissa heard the commotion and walked out of her room. Just as she entered the courtyard, she saw Vivienne rush into Whitestone Lodge, followed by the sound of the door locking.
Marissa looked baffled. Had she been bullied at the banquet?
Vivienne locked the door, immediately pulled out a spare phone with a new SIM card from the drawer, and grabbed the printed list. She started dialing one by one.
Excluding the Diamond Members she had already called, there were about fifty Silver and Gold members left. If each call took ten seconds, the whole process would take about nine to ten minutes. To avoid arousing suspicion, they had to be fast.
Some calls couldn't connect, some rang with no answer, and others connected immediately. Like before, the people on the other end were cautious, tapping three times before speaking.
Whenever that happened, Vivienne hung up without hesitation, quickly swapped the SIM card, and dialed again.
Since she wasn't used to it, the process, which was supposed to take ten minutes, stretched out by an extra five. Adding the time it took her to run back from the front yard, Bianca had been in the Security Anteroom for nearly half an hour.
Vivienne quickly packed her things and dashed out of the room.
Marissa was washing dishes in the kitchen when she heard the heavy thud of footsteps running down the stairs. She paused her work, stepped into the courtyard, and saw Vivienne lifting her dress and sprinting out.
What was going on? Such a fuss.
Vivienne sprinted all the way back. Once she reached the side yard, she hid in a corner, peering through the lattice window at the Security Anteroom.
Strange. She had already texted Bianca. Why wasn't she out yet?
