Chaos Girl Rewrites the Script novel Chapter 353

"It's all because of you!" Mina said, pointing a finger. "Vivienne, I'm warning you. I already covered for you being mentally ill, so you better keep your mouth shut about me going to the hospital for a DNA test. And just a reminder, I took that test with a clear conscience. You, on the other hand, are certifiably crazy. If you throw me under the bus, don't blame me for ruining you!"

"I'm mentally ill?" Vivienne suddenly realized what had happened. Mina actually believed the psychiatric diagnosis belonged to Vivienne, and that she had used Mina's name just to avoid a scandal.

Seeing Vivienne's silence, Mina grew defensive. "Why aren't you saying anything?"

Vivienne nodded slowly. "Fine. Let's call it an exchange of secrets. But... what about the doctor who examined me?"

"I knew you'd be worried about that." Mina lifted her chin smugly. "I told my grandfather that I really did go to the hospital for an exam, and since it wouldn't look good if word got out, I asked him to handle it. Unfortunately, your doctor took the fall. My grandfather assumed he was just fear-mongering to suck up to the Ravenshire family. He'll probably get roughed up a bit and chased out of Stormhollow entirely. Once he's gone, no one will ever know your secret."

The outcome was almost exactly what Vivienne had predicted, though Mina going out of her way to protect her was a surprising twist.

Mina looked around nervously and lowered her voice. "And you absolutely cannot mention anything about that woman, understand?"

Looking into Mina's foolishly innocent eyes, Vivienne couldn't stop the words from slipping out. "Have you really never suspected anything?"

Mina froze for a second before the realization hit her, and her face darkened furiously. "Just because your own background is pathetic, do you desperately want everyone else to be as miserable as you?"

Vivienne raised an eyebrow.

Mina realized she had overreacted, but she stubbornly refused to show weakness. She lifted her chin high. "Just wait and see." With that, she stormed off, her arrogant strides practically burning holes in the pavement.

Vivienne wasn't the type to hold a grudge over something like that. In fact, she felt a sudden twinge of pity for Mina. Given everything that had happened that day, it was highly likely that the whole 'switched at birth' situation had been a meticulously planned conspiracy all along.

"Vivi, what's wrong?"
