Cyril took the ice pack. "Understood."
Bianca grinned and leaned in. "Vivi, I'm... gonna step out for a bit. I'll check on you later, okay?"
It didn't take a genius to guess that Bianca wanted to find Aurelia. Vivienne closed her eyes and waved a hand. "Go ahead."
As Bianca turned, she accidentally glanced toward the corner. The girl was keeping her back to them. Bianca considered for a moment, then gently tapped Cyril's shoulder. "Cyril, I'm leaving her in your hands."
Cyril nodded, and Bianca finally left the resting room.
The person in the corner was none other than Mira, her face beaten to a pulp.
That morning, under the guise of teaching her how to act, Lara had slapped her more than thirty times, practically ruining her face. She had been dizzy and delirious at the time. If Isolde hadn't stepped in, the consequences would have been unimaginable.
First it was Julianne, then Lara. Mira was terrified of everything now. When she heard Vivienne's voice, she was completely paralyzed with fear, burying her entire face in bandages and hiding in the corner.
The resting room was so quiet you could hear a pin drop.
Mira's heart was hammering against her ribs. She couldn't understand why she kept running into Vivienne at the infirmary.
She carefully turned her head, peeking through the gaps in the bandages at the boy and girl diagonally across from her.
The girl seemed to be asleep, and the boy was looking down, gently rolling the ice pack in his hand. His fingers hovered less than half an inch over her forehead, the cold pack gliding carefully between his warm palm and her pale skin.
As if sensing her gaze, the boy half-opened his eyes and cast a casual glance in her direction.
Mira gasped in shock. Before she could process the darkness in his gaze, she quickly looked away in sheer terror.
Cyril casually retracted his gaze, looking back down and keeping his eyes fixed on Vivienne.
After a long moment, he tilted his head slightly. As he pushed the ice pack, his thumb 'accidentally' brushed hard against the bump on her forehead.
"Ah!"
Vivienne snapped her eyes open and glared at him. "Watch it! Or I'll tell Grandfather you're the one who gave me this lump."
Cyril replied calmly, "I'm heading to Goldbay District this afternoon, so I can't stay long. Do you want Alaric or Julian to come over?"
