Vivienne didn't make a sound, slowly walking toward the two girls.

This was Aurelia's redemption, and Vivienne refused to interrupt it.

Lara stared blankly at Aurelia, the frantic glint in her eyes gradually fading into calmness. She lifted her hand, her fingertips hesitantly brushing against Aurelia's palm, and Aurelia immediately grabbed her hand tight.

"Come back."

Lara hesitated for a second, then started climbing down from the railing.

"Thank God..."

Before Aurelia could finish, Lara suddenly yanked her hand free, shoved Aurelia hard in the shoulders, and screamed.

Aurelia was stunned, staring at her in disbelief, but her body was already falling backward before she could react.

In that critical fraction of a second, someone grabbed her arm.

She jolted as if waking from a terrible nightmare, looking down to see the entire bustling city beneath her feet.

Looking up, against the backdrop of the starry night, someone had come to save her.

Vivienne pulled Aurelia, who was clinging to the outside of the railing, and said softly, "It's over."

Feeling the warmth of Vivienne's hand, Aurelia finally snapped back to reality, tears streaming down her face.

The countdown label floating above her head gradually dimmed, flickering faintly.

It hadn't disappeared, but it was drastically weakened.

Lara finally processed what had just happened and scrambled to run away in terror. Vivienne helped Aurelia climb back over the railing. Once Aurelia was safely on solid ground, Vivienne calmly picked up a loose brick from the roof and hurled it straight at Lara.

"Ah!"

Lara let out a piteous cry and collapsed to the ground.

Vivienne rolled up her sleeves and unleashed a flurry of kicks and punches on Lara. "If it wasn't out of respect for Grandpa, I would've beaten you to a pulp long ago."

Lara had been through hell all day and had stood in the freezing wind for hours; she was absolutely no match for Vivienne right now.

Once Vivienne was done wiping the floor with her, she dragged Lara over and tossed her toward the railing. Lara, as if jolted awake, clung to the metal bars for dear life.

Vivienne wasn't soft like Aurelia. She grabbed another brick and smashed it onto Lara's hands, making Lara scream in agony and beg Aurelia for mercy.

"Lia, I'm sorry! I don't know what came over me, I didn't mean it!"

Aurelia stayed silent, turning around to find an even bigger brick, which she calmly handed to Vivienne.

Vivienne smashed the brick right against Lara's head, instantly drawing blood.

"Ahhhhh!!!" Lara shrieked in absolute terror.

Vivienne grabbed her by the throat. "Does it hurt? Do you understand now? Only physical pain is real. Everything else that hurts you is just in your own head. You didn't lose to the Salacious Rumors; you lost to yourself."

Lara sobbed hysterically. "What do you know, you psycho? My reputation is ruined! No man will ever dare marry me now. My life is over!"

Vivienne slapped her so hard across the face that Lara's head snapped to the side, leaving her completely dazed.

"Are you brain-dead? You're the heiress of the Arlington family. Your grandfather is Caspian Ravenshire! Even if you kept a whole closet full of boy toys, men would still line up all the way to Solenforth to marry you. Lara, you received an elite education for years, and the only thing in your head is getting married? You're pathetic. You might as well jump."

"Ahhh!! Don't let go!!!" Lara, her hands battered and bruised, ignored the searing pain and desperately clung to Vivienne's arm.

"Now you're afraid to die? Too late! We don't want to save you anymore. Go ahead and jump. When you die, your mom will go insane, and your dad will just marry a new wife. Oh, right! And all those videos and rumors will never be disproven, so everyone wins."
