Bianca gave Vivienne a faint smile before slowly closing her eyes.
The bullet had pierced her lower abdomen, and blood was pouring out relentlessly.
"Ahhhh!" Lara screamed in sheer panic, scurrying away to hide.
"Bianca..."
Holding Bianca's collapsing body, Vivienne felt true terror for the very first time. It was the same suffocating dread she had felt in her past life when she heard the sudden news of her grandfather's death.
"Bianca!" Aurelia's face went pale with panic. She immediately started tearing off her own clothes to apply pressure to Bianca's wound while frantically scanning their surroundings. "Vivi, it's dangerous, we need to..."
Before she could finish, a deafening roar tore through the sky above the rooftop.
The three of them looked up to see a massive swarm of black helicopters occupying the entire airspace, their spinning rotors blotting out every last star.
One helicopter slowly descended. The cabin door slid open, and Talia rushed out in an absolute panic.
"Bianca!"
When she saw Bianca covered in blood, unconscious in Vivienne's arms, the light vanished from Talia's eyes. She walked forward, step by step, like a soulless shell.
"How could this happen? She was just fine..."
Vivienne lowered her head, her voice trembling violently. "I'm sorry. She did it to protect me."
Talia's unfocused eyes gradually cleared. Fighting through the agonizing pain, she wrapped one arm around Bianca and pulled Vivienne close with the other. "Don't apologize. It's not your fault."
Vivienne's eyes quivered, and the tears she had been fighting back finally spilled over.
Ever since she discovered the truth about this world, she hadn't shed a single tear, but now, she couldn't stop crying.
"Lia!" Benedict jumped out of the helicopter, grabbing Aurelia and checking her over frantically. "Are you okay? Are you hurt?"
Aurelia shook her head, looking tearfully at Vivienne's back. "Dad, I'm fine. Vivi and Bianca protected me."
Benedict nodded, turning and rushing over to Talia. He dropped to one knee, supporting Bianca's head. "Talia, we need to get the kid to the hospital right now."
