Evelyn patted her hand, her expression complex. After a moment of hesitation, she pulled Lara along, and they sat down in the waiting room together.

Vivienne sat alone on the stairs behind the fire doors.
The stairwell was dead silent, so quiet it felt like she was the only person left in the world.
There was a small window on the wall; the world outside was a hazy, dreary gray.
Suddenly, footsteps approached, and the fluorescent lights flickered on brightly.
Vivienne reflexively raised a hand to shield her eyes. Looking up, she saw a dark silhouette stop beside her.
"Go away," she said, her voice hoarse and laced with heavy irritation.
Cyril bent down, pulled a small hard drive from his pocket, and handed it to her.
Vivienne lowered her hand. Her eyes were redder than a rabbit's, but it was just redness—there was no despair, no defeat, no sign of being broken.
Cyril looked at her. "Here."
Vivienne looked down, staring at the little black device in his fingers. "What's this?" she asked hoarsely.
Cyril replied smoothly, "The thing you annoyed me about all night. What do you think it is?"
It was barely an hour, not all night. Vivienne didn't have the energy to correct him. She took the black hard drive from his hand.
Her hands were covered in dried blood. When her fingertips brushed against his palm, Cyril's eyes darkened slightly.
"What else do you want?"
"Huh?" Vivienne paused, looking at him in confusion.
Cyril feigned nonchalance and turned his head away. "You were right. You saved my innocence. It's only fair that I repay the favor."
Vivienne slipped the hard drive into her pocket and sniffled. "Are you serious?"
Cyril didn't look at her, merely offering a soft, "Yeah."
"Anything?"
