The playful glint in Bianca's eyes faded, replaced by sudden, intense seriousness. "Vivi, I'm sorry."

Vivienne froze. The emotions she had been holding back suddenly crumbled, and her eyes grew red.

Sitting alone in the hospital stairwell, she had been obsessing over one question.

And when Vivienne finally snapped out of it, Bianca hadn't dared to ask a single question, terrified that touching on forbidden secrets would somehow get Vivienne killed.

On the day of the congressional transition, Frederick suffered a massive heart attack and was rushed into emergency surgery. The patriarchs of both the Everhart and Blackthorne families personally showed up at Obsidian Estate bearing lavish gifts. For a moment, the estate's threshold was practically worn down by the sheer number of visitors.
