"Kael Kenyon!"
Julianne was furious at being dismissed so casually. She tried to storm forward and argue, but the lackey grabbed her arm and pulled her back. Thrashing wildly to no avail, her rage boiled over. She spun around and slapped the guy viciously across the face. "Who gave you permission to touch me?! I'll have Preston kill you! Do you hear me?!"
The guy's face darkened with a murderous glare, but considering Julianne's status, he forced himself to swallow the humiliation and stay quiet.

Inside the car.
The atmosphere was suffocatingly quiet. The cramped space was filled with the faint, seductive scent of designer cologne.
Vivienne rested her chin on her hand, staring out the window. The hazy neon lights of the night sky instantly pulled her mind back to a specific evening from her past life.
...
-[Previous Life]-
Julianne had tricked Vivienne into going to the Arts Building to retrieve something. At the time, Vivienne had no idea what sick secrets that building held. The moment she stepped off the elevator, two heavily intoxicated guys grabbed her and dragged her straight into The Activities Room. Lust blinding their judgment, they were intent on violating her.
She had fought back with everything she had, kicking one of the guys so hard he tumbled to the floor. Driven by raw survival instinct, she hoisted a heavy wooden desk chair over her head and smashed it relentlessly into the downed attacker.
She struck him with brutal force. It didn't take long for a dark puddle of blood to pool out across the linoleum.
The other guy was utterly paralyzed with terror. He let out a pathetic scream and bolted out of the room.
But Vivienne couldn't hear him. Only one thought echoed in her mind: *Everyone who hurt her had to die.* She swung the chair harder and faster, the bloodstains on the floor spreading further with every devastating blow.
"That's enough."
Suddenly, a strong hand clamped around her wrist.
Vivienne snapped back to reality. Gasping for breath, she looked up to see Preston standing directly in front of her. His dark, pitch-black eyes held a faint glint of amusement. "Hit him again, and you're going to kill him."
