Chaos Girl Rewrites the Script novel Chapter 52

She remained expressionless as she walked down from the upper floor. It wasn’t until she saw Caspian waiting for her under the moonlight, leaning on his cane, that her composure wavered. The old man smiled and waved at her. Her eyes suddenly welled with tears, and she broke into a trot, rushing to his side. “Grandpa.”

Caspian took her hand. “Come on. Let’s go home.”

Their shadows—one towering and steady, the other small and hurried—stretched across the pavement, a silent echo of a night three years ago that changed everything.

Echostone House.

Talia, dressed in a silk nightgown, leaned against the terrace railing. The cigarette between her fingers had burned halfway down.

Tessa pushed the door open, paused for a moment, then naturally took the cigarette from her hand and extinguished it. “Ms. Talia, you need to be more careful. If Bianca sees this, she’ll pick up bad habits.”

Talia had long considered Tessa family, so she wasn’t the least bit angry at the gesture. Instead, she pinched the bridge of her nose and explained with a smile, “I couldn’t sleep, so I was just messing around. Is Bianca asleep?”

Tessa wrapped the cigarette in a silk handkerchief from her pocket and clutched it in her hand. “She just went to bed. Ms. Talia, there was quite a commotion over at Vellmont Lodge earlier.”

Talia raised an eyebrow at Tessa. “What happened?”

Tessa stepped closer, her voice dropping. “Miss Lexton threw a huge fit. The old master kicked Serena and the younger one out of Obsidian Estate.”

Talia was taken aback and looked at Tessa with surprise. Tessa leaned in and whispered a few more words, and a look of contempt immediately appeared on Talia’s face.

“I told you that woman was shortsighted. But still…” Her gaze deepened thoughtfully. “Did Vivienne’s grandmother really save the old man’s life? He’s spoiling her way too much.”

“Mom…”

In truth, Bianca had been very close to Tessa when she was little. Her earliest memories were filled with a chubby, dark, and not particularly pretty smiling face.

She used to call her Nanny all the time. She couldn’t remember when she’d stopped, only that her aunt had told her that Tessa was just a maid who did whatever they paid her to do. Calling a maid “Nanny” would only get her laughed at.

Later, Talia had specifically asked her about it. At the time, with the unfiltered honesty of a child, she had pointed at Tessa and said, “Auntie says she’s just our servant.”

Talia’s expression had changed on the spot. The next day, at a family dinner, she had thrown a glass of wine at her sister-in-law. Not long after, Tessa had moved back to Obsidian Estate.

Bianca peeked out from under the covers and watched Tessa’s short, stout figure disappear behind the closing door. She let out a frustrated sigh.

So… was Vivienne telling the truth? Would Tessa really die a violent death because of her?
