Chaos Girl Rewrites the Script novel Chapter 53

“What are you thinking about?”

Talia, not wanting to keep Bianca waiting, had come out with her hair only half-dry, only to find her daughter staring blankly into space. Amused, Talia reached out and ruffled Bianca’s mess of colorful hair.

“Did Tessa leave?” She lifted the covers and slipped into bed.

Bianca stared at Talia, then slowly scooted closer under the covers. “Mom, I heard Tessa say that that ‘beggar’ kicked her own mother out.”

Talia looked down at her. “You heard that?”

Bianca’s eyes suddenly lit up with a strange light. “Mom, why would that ‘beggar’ kick her own mother out of Obsidian Estate? I thought she always did whatever her mom said.”

Talia frowned. “Don’t be so rude. Your grandfather has already accepted her into Obsidian Estate. She’s a Ravenshire now.”

Bianca didn’t hear a word of it. “She must have found out her mom is a bad person, so she switched sides! But how did she suddenly figure it out?”

Bianca’s eyes gleamed as she muttered to herself, “Maybe… she really can see the future, so she found out her mom was evil! Yes! That makes perfect sense!”

Talia, seeing Bianca lost in her own world, tapped her on the head in annoyance. “What are you muttering about? I’m warning you, stay out of that family’s business. And from now on, you’d better keep your distance from that Vivienne.”

Bianca waved her hand dismissively, an all-knowing expression on her face. A moment later, she leaned in conspiratorially. “Mom, do you think Mr. Montclair will win the election this time?”

Talia wasn’t particularly interested and tilted her head to dry her hair. “Who knows?”

Bianca nuzzled against Talia like a puppy. “I think it’s very likely. There won’t be any last-minute surprises, right?”

Talia finally sensed something was off. “Why are you asking about this?”

Bianca’s eyes darted around. “No reason. I was just curious.”

Talia looked at her daughter suspiciously, studying her from head to toe.

She knew her daughter well enough to know that shifty eyes meant she was hiding something. Not taking any chances, Talia pulled Bianca up from under the covers, her expression serious. “Why are you suddenly so curious about this?”

Bianca was most afraid of Talia’s sudden mood shifts. Her heart pounded, and she was about to spill everything about Vivienne, but just as the words were on the tip of her tongue, she remembered Vivienne’s final instruction.

Talia grew more certain she was hiding something. “Are you keeping a secret from me?”

Bianca shook her head. “No, it’s just that Mr. Ethan Montclair came to visit Grandpa of the Whitmore a while ago. I saw how happy they were talking, so I figured if he won the election, our Whitmore family would benefit too.”

Bianca held onto Talia’s hand. “Mom, is it because of Grandpa on my dad’s side? Did he and Mr. Montclair do something bad for the Ravenshire family?”

Talia froze. Out of a desire to protect her daughter, she shook her head. “No, you’re going to Alderwick soon, aren’t you? Mommy is worried and wants to discuss it with your grandfather.”

Bianca looked at Talia, then obediently let go and snuggled back under the covers. “Oh, okay. You can go then.”

Talia was genuinely surprised. Bianca was being unnervingly well-behaved tonight. But she had no time to dwell on it. She threw on a coat, kissed Bianca’s forehead, and said, “Go to sleep.”

Once the door closed again, Bianca slowly crawled out from under the covers.

Had she done the wrong thing again? Grandpa on dad’s side had repeatedly told her to keep this a secret. He said that as a daughter of the Whitmore family, she had to put the Whitmores first. But today, she had broken her promise.

Her mother had heard the secret and abandoned her in the middle of the night to see her father. Even if she was slow, she knew something major must have happened.

Bianca stared helplessly at her palm. If she remembered correctly, Vivienne had written the name ‘Markell’ on it. But she wracked her brain and couldn't think of any major figure in Athelvia with that name.

“Vivienne, if you’re lying to me, you’re dead…”
