The Everhart Estate.
The Main Hall was brightly lit. With the diplomatic trip to Solenforth rapidly approaching, Graham Everhart had specifically called his three sons home for dinner. Afterward, the men gathered in the parlor to discuss politics, while the women chatted in the courtyard.
Graham had three sons and two daughters. His eldest, Zachary Everhart, was the Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and was personally orchestrating the entire itinerary for the Solenforth visit.
His second son, Barnaby Everhart, was the Chief Commissioner of the Police Department, reporting directly to Congress.
His youngest, Irving Everhart, was a corporate titan who controlled seventy percent of Southern Europe's primary economy.
"Dad, the elder Mr. Ravenshire has given his word. The delegation will leave port next Wednesday as planned."
Zachary had an elegant, scholarly look, yet he had once smashed three podiums in a single speech, earning him the affectionate nickname "The Human Missile" among the citizens of Athelvia.
Irving stood up to refill everyone's tea. "Dad, I backed a prime piece of real estate recently and made another fortune."
In the Everhart family, the Patriarch was absolute. To prevent infighting among his sons, Graham had established strict rules early on: Zachary would inherit the title of Patriarch, and the rest of the family was expected to support him unconditionally.
To ensure Zachary could focus entirely on his career, Graham personally mentored Preston, even announcing on Preston's sixth birthday that he would be the sole heir among the grandchildren's generation.
Because of this blatant favoritism, Zachary and Preston held a unique status within the family, second only to the Patriarch himself.
Graham usually looked down on his youngest son's obsession with money. He gave a dismissive grunt, picked up his teacup, and looked at his second son. "It's time you moved up from Chief Commissioner. Once Dorian Ravenshire enters Congress, he'll be your direct superior. Make sure you build that relationship when he returns from Merriton City."
Barnaby quickly agreed.
Irving was used to being ignored and didn't mind. He smiled and poured water for Preston, who was playing a game on his phone.
Preston's fingers paused. He looked up and smiled. "Thanks, Uncle Irving."
