Mina hung up the phone and walked around the corner.
A plain-looking girl was surrounded by a group of upperclassmen. Mina recognized them immediately; they were the pathetic fan club that loved tailing Preston Everhart everywhere for clout.
The leader of the group was holding an invitation, casually slapping it against Isolde's cheek. Isolde turned her head to dodge, which only egged the girl on. She swung harder, smacking Isolde's thick black glasses right off her face.
"Tsk, tsk. Let me get a good look~ She's actually got a decent face. No wonder Kael Kenyon is so obsessed."
The girl scrutinized Isolde's face like she was inspecting a piece of meat.
"I highly suggest you stop playing hard to get. This invitation isn't something just anyone can get. Be smart about this. Keep Kael happy, and there's plenty in it for you, right?"
"If it's such a great deal, why don't you sleep with him yourself?"
Before the girl even realized what happened, she was shoved hard to the side.
Mina had entirely forgotten that this was the same girl who had bumped into her days ago. She bent down, picked up the glasses, and handed them back.
Isolde froze, keeping her head down as she took them.
The girl who was shoved had been ready to swing back, but the moment she recognized Mina's face, all the fight drained out of her.
Mina knew exactly how these girls operated. She waved them off. "Get the hell out of here."
The girls did a complete one-eighty. "Ms. Blackthorne, please don't make this hard on us. This came directly from Kael."
Mina snatched the invitation out of the girl's hand. "Fine. I'll take it for her. If Kael has a problem with it, tell him to come find me."
Seeing the situation handled, the girls didn't dare say another word. They shot Isolde a freezing glare and marched upstairs.
Mina crumpled the invitation into a ball and tossed it into a nearby trash can. "If you don't want anything to do with that crowd, you need to be smarter. This is the Elite Wing. A General Wing student wandering in here is no different from a lamb walking into a tiger's den."
After dropping that brief piece of advice, Mina turned and walked down the hall.
Isolde didn't say a single word. Only after Mina's silhouette disappeared completely did her legs finally give out. With her back sliding against the wall, she collapsed to the floor.
