The butler's expression shifted, and he quickly walked back to the main building.
An hour later.
A woman's crying echoed from the Main Hall.
Sophia was standing stubbornly in the middle of the hall in her pajamas. Sylvia was fiercely beating and scolding her, completely hysterical. "Are you out of your mind? Huh? What kind of place is the 313th? Even the most powerful elites are left as nothing but bones in there. What business does a girl like you have enlisting in the military?"
The slaps rang out louder and louder.
Clarissa couldn't bear to watch. She stepped forward to pull Sylvia away, gently comforting her. "If you have something to say, talk it out properly. Father is still here, what do you think you're doing?"
Sylvia seemed to awaken from a dream. She collapsed onto the sofa and burst into tears.
Graham didn't say a word, scrutinizing the document in his hands word by word. Even after reading the final punctuation mark, he still showed no emotion.
"Did you submit the draft application yourself?"
Sophia lowered her eyes. "Yes."
"Liar!" Sylvia flew into a rage, pointing at Sophia. "I clearly threw those documents away. How could you possibly have mailed them out? Speak! Who exactly put you up to this?"
Sophia looked up, meeting Sylvia's gaze. "This is my own decision. No one put me up to it."
"You ungrateful wretch!" Sylvia was livid, grabbing a water glass from the table and hurling it at Sophia.
Sophia numbly turned her body. The glass missed her and shattered, the loud crash echoing through the hall.
"You still dare to dodge?" Sylvia was furious, getting up to strike her again. Unexpectedly, a cup of hot tea was thrown right into her face.
Sylvia finally realized what happened, looking at Graham with terror in her eyes. "Graham, I..."
Graham ordered, "Clarissa, take Sylvia away for now."
Clarissa hurriedly stepped forward to support Sylvia. "Let's go."
Sylvia didn't dare disobey, nodding repeatedly.
Once the irrelevant people had dispersed, Graham tossed the document in his hand onto the floor. "A recommendation letter from Alaric? The Ravenshire family mailed it for you?"
The Ravenshire family?
