Cyril cast his gaze downward, his eyes instantly flooding with a crimson hue of despair. He turned and looked at Summer with heartbreaking caution, his voice trembling. "Don't believe them, okay?"
The voices outside continued to echo through the corridor. "Mrs. Ravenshire said that as soon as this is settled, you'll have a new life. But if you fail, you can rot in hell with that bitch."
Cyril felt his entire world shatter in that single moment. The strength drained from his body entirely, and he collapsed to the floor in front of Summer.
He had no idea what to do, leaving him with nothing but desperate pleas. "Please don't believe them. I'm begging you, Mom."
Summer gazed at him from across the narrow corridor. She ached to pull him into her arms, but she couldn't.
"Cyril," she said softly, her eyes filled with profound sorrow. "Do you love me?"
Cyril kept his head bowed as tears streamed silently down his face.
He loved her.
Even though he had known since he was six years old that she wasn't his biological mother, he had never once held back his genuine affection for her.
When he was six, Victoria had suddenly appeared in his life.
She had told him the cruel truth—that he wasn't Summer's real son. He was just an unwanted bastard, and she was the one who had orchestrated the swap to give him a different life.
From that day forward, Victoria took complete control of his existence. She constantly fed him toxic lies, attempting to mold him into a weapon designed to destroy Summer.
He had tried to cry out for help, but Dorian cared nothing for him. Victoria pulled all the strings in Merriton City, leaving a young, powerless boy with absolutely no way to escape her iron grip.
He endured this puppet-like existence for nine agonizing years. At the slightest hint of rebellion, he was subjected to brutal beatings and abuse. To ensure his absolute submission, Victoria even force-fed him heavily restricted psychiatric drugs, only stopping when she was satisfied he was as obedient as a trained dog.
Over time, he came to understand that Victoria's hatred for Summer ran terrifyingly deep. She was willing to spend fifteen years weaving a nightmare just to utterly break Summer, ensuring she wouldn't even find peace in death.
Because of this, Cyril made a silent vow. He needed to grow up quickly so he could take Summer and escape this living hell once and for all.
A suffocating wave of despair washed over Cyril as the reality of what he was about to lose set in. He pounded on the door, sobbing uncontrollably. "I'll get you out of here! Let me take you away! Please! Please!"
"Cyril, get out of here! Run! Don't worry about me, just run!"
Summer leaned heavily against the other side of the door, staring into the blazing inferno as she collapsed to the floor and screamed. "I was wrong! It was all my fault! Please don't hurt my child, my baby... I need to find my baby."
Run, my sweet Cyril. Don't stay in this hell.

Night fell quietly over the city as the roaring flames were finally extinguished. Heroic firefighters smashed through the iron gates, forcefully carving out a path of survival.
Cyril blinked hard, dragging himself back from the painful memories.
Perhaps the tragic outcome of that fire had thoroughly satisfied Victoria. In a rare display of mercy, she had tossed him a sum of money and told him to get as far away from her as possible.
