Unwilling to accept defeat, he had secretly infiltrated Dorian's residence to reveal the truth about everything.
That day, he witnessed Dorian and Victoria having a massive argument over Summer's death. But from start to finish, Dorian only blamed Victoria for dragging him into the mess; he didn't spare a single word of sorrow for Summer.
Realizing this, any lingering sliver of hope within Cyril completely died.
He had always known Dorian didn't truly love Summer; he was merely obsessed with her stunning looks. But Cyril never expected the man to be so utterly despicable. Dorian had taken Summer by force, destroyed her life, and kept her locked away like a caged bird. Even without love, he had reaped the physical pleasures she provided and even had a child with her. At the very least, he should have protected her.
The true power in Merriton City wasn't Victoria; it was Dorian. He was the one who had pushed Summer into the line of fire and then left her completely defenseless, allowing her to be swallowed whole by the monsters that dragged her to hell.
Victoria had used him to manipulate Summer, but hadn't Dorian done the exact same thing?
Ever since he was a little boy, he had known his mother was deeply unhappy. He had once asked her why she didn't just run away if she was so miserable.
Summer would just stroke his hair, her answer always the same. "When my Cyril gets a little older."
But she never got the chance to see him grow up.
He might have been a bastard, but he had a mother. His mother had been dragged into the fiery depths by demons, so how could he possibly walk away and live a peaceful life?
If he left, he would never be able to live with himself.
So, he buried his burning hatred deep inside and presented himself to Dorian as a harmless, innocent youth. Before, he had felt nothing for the man; their relationship was barely a step above strangers. But once he began his calculated approach, his mindset shifted completely. He played on Dorian's meager remaining scraps of pity to secure his initial trust.
Victoria had been utterly furious at this development and made several attempts to have him permanently silenced. Seizing the opportunity, Cyril had smoothly suggested to Dorian that he should move into Obsidian Estate.
Dorian practically ruled Merriton City. If Cyril wanted to tear down that empire, he needed to leverage a much greater power—and that absolute authority resided within Obsidian Estate.
Dorian had initially refused, but Cyril knew exactly how to play to the man's ruthless ambition, pitching three major advantages.
Lennox glanced at him through the rearview mirror, answering in his usual professional manner. "Moira reported that after you left, Miss Lexton locked herself in the apartment and hasn't come out."
Cyril's hand paused halfway to rubbing his forehead. "Is she feeling sick?"
"I don't think so," Lennox replied. "Moira said she asked her to buy a ton of groceries. If she wasn't feeling well, she probably wouldn't have much of an appetite."
Hearing that, Cyril didn't say another word, simply closing his eyes to rest.
The sleek black sedan navigated through the neon-lit streets, soon pulling into the underground parking garage.
"You don't need to follow me," Cyril instructed. He pushed the door open and stepped out. The moment he walked into the lobby, he noticed a group of people hurriedly piling out of the elevator.
"This is completely insane. First there's a fire in the parking garage, and now the penthouse is smoking up. I'm definitely not staying in the building tonight."
