Cyril's nerves spiked with a sharp jolt. He grabbed the man who had spoken. "What did you just say? The penthouse is smoking?"
The man blinked, startled. "Yeah, the fire alarms went off. We already called it in. Just waiting for them to show up and handle it."
Cyril's expression darkened drastically. He spun around and sprinted for the elevator. The man yelled out a warning, "Hey, don't go up there! We don't even know how bad it is yet!"
Ding.
The elevator doors slid shut.

Inside the kitchen, Vivienne was hopping around in an absolute panic.
Her original plan had been to elegantly pan-fry a steak and set up a highly romantic candlelight dinner. She wanted Cyril to walk in after a long day of work and instantly feel the warmth of a loving home and comforting companionship.
But she had massively overestimated her culinary skills. She had no idea where things went wrong, but the frying pan suddenly erupted with a loud bang, and the whole thing burst into open flames.
"How did this even happen?"
Vivienne grabbed a pot lid, holding it out in front of her like a makeshift shield as she cautiously edged closer.
You weren't supposed to throw water on a grease fire. The best way to put it out was to smother the flames with a lid and cut off the oxygen.
The fire was growing rapidly, and the steak was quickly turning into a lump of charcoal. Vivienne closed one eye, aiming the lid at the skillet, getting ready to launch it.
Right at that moment, someone stepped up beside her. He smoothly snatched the lid from her hands, slammed it decisively over the roaring flames, and twisted the gas valve shut in one fluid motion.
Vivienne stood there stunned. Through the thick smoke, Cyril's predatory gaze cut through the haze like a freshly drawn blade.
Before she could even process what was happening, Cyril clamped his hand tightly around her arm and yanked her straight out of the kitchen.
Vivienne glanced back at the now-extinguished stove. Wait, Cyril Bean wasn't terrified of fire anymore?
Just as she was puzzling over that, her eyes darted down, noticing the angry red burn on the back of his hand. "You're hurt!"
Cyril glanced down at his hand, utterly unbothered.
Right then, Moira burst through the front door, gasping for breath. Seeing that both Cyril and Vivienne were perfectly fine, she let out a massive sigh of relief. "Boss, Miss Lexton, are you two alright?"
Knock, knock.
A soft tapping echoed from the door.
Cyril's expression shifted slightly. He quickly walked over and sat at the foot of the bed. His eyes darted to the discarded tie on the floor, and he hesitated for a second, intending to pick it up. But the door suddenly creaked open, leaving him no time to move, so he just settled back down.
Vivienne poked her head in first before slowly padding into the room, carrying a first-aid kit. Two steps in, she planted her foot right on his discarded tie.
She casually glanced down at it, pretended she hadn't seen a thing, and walked straight over to Cyril.
"Your hand is burned. Let me put some ointment on it."
Cyril kept his gaze lowered, completely ignoring her.
Vivienne nodded sharply. "Fine." She turned around, ready to leave.
Cyril instantly grabbed the tail of her pig onesie, his voice heavy with exhaustion. "I thought you were going to treat my burn?"
