Chaos Girl Rewrites the Script novel Chapter 638

In the game of politics, winning and losing were simply the nature of war. The Blackthornes had been outplayed this time, and he had nothing to complain about. But when the reputation and futures of his two granddaughters were on the line, he had to carve out a path for them.

Sterling hesitated. "Dad, if you call them now, the Ravenshires will demand an exorbitant price."

"The Ravenshires don't care about pocket change," Edmund replied smoothly. "Caspian is paving a golden road to the top for Alaric, and he will undoubtedly go into politics and the military. Your brother currently controls the entire Westsea Gulf. I imagine Caspian will find that bargaining chip quite tempting."

Hearing this, Sterling immediately refused. "No. York hasn't been home in ten years for the sake of this family. He's the youngest five-star general in the military. His future is limitless. We can't..."

"When the nest falls, do the eggs remain intact? If the Blackthorne name is destroyed, what future is there to speak of? The Montclair family is the perfect example of that." Edmund left no room for argument as he picked up the vintage English telephone, dialing the numbers one by one.

Sterling was utterly silenced, his head bowing in deep shame.

"Grandfather Blackthorne." The line connected, and a very young voice answered.

Edmund guessed it was Julian Ravenshire, who had accompanied Caspian on the trip. He deliberately softened his tone. "Where is your grandfather?"

"Grandpa had too much to drink at the banquet and is currently resting."

Given Caspian's status, not even the Queen would dare force him to drink. How could he possibly be drunk?

Edmund knew an excuse when he heard one, so he got straight to the point. "Tell your grandfather that the Blackthorne family is willing to trade Westsea..."

Before he could finish, the young voice politely cut him off. "I'm sorry, Grandfather Blackthorne. Grandpa is already asleep. I will inform him of your call tomorrow."

A rejection?

Edmund could hardly believe it. Without another word, he hung up the phone.

"Grandfather!" Just then, Mina pushed open the study doors and burst into the room.

Edmund was momentarily startled but quickly regained his composure. "Mina?"

"Grandfather, I can clear my name. I'll go to the hospital..."

"Absolutely not!" Edmund snapped harshly, refusing to entertain the thought.

Suddenly, the phone in her pocket vibrated violently.

Mina instinctively thought of Vivienne and pulled the phone out with eager anticipation, but the light in her eyes died instantly when she saw it was an unknown number.

Ever since the video went viral, unknown numbers had been calling her nonstop, begging for interviews.

An interview?

Thinking of the suffocating trap surrounding her, a rebellious fire suddenly ignited in Mina's chest. Acting purely on impulse, she answered the call.

A very gentle voice came through the speaker. "Hello, Mina. This is Aurelia Ravenshire."

Mina froze, her brain struggling to catch up. "Aurelia... Ravenshire?"

"Yes. Vivi wanted me to ask you... Are you ready to fight?"
