Chaos Girl Rewrites the Script novel Chapter 66

The women, completely oblivious, continued their gossip.

"That's right! And the young lady is so pretty."

"It's more than that. She has a good heart, too. She woke up this morning and helped me with my chores before she even had breakfast, and she fed the koi in the pond. As soon as it was light out, she dragged Cedric down the mountain to feed the stray cats and dogs."

"Yes, yes, the young lady really is kind-hearted. This morning, a sparrow fell from a tree, and she personally bandaged it. No wonder the old master likes her so much. Who wouldn't love such an adorable girl?"

Cyril considered this for a moment, then walked toward the pavilion.

The women were so engrossed in their chatter that they didn't notice someone had joined them.

Cyril cleared his throat lightly. Startled, the group scattered instantly, like they'd been caught doing something wrong.

Elise was the most embarrassed of them all. She wrung her dry hands, chuckling nervously. "Mr. Cyril."

Cyril gave a slight nod, his tone gentle. "Ma'am, is... is Vivienne not feeling well?"

Elise, who had been worried Cyril thought they were slacking off, immediately relaxed and explained enthusiastically, "She wasn't feeling well yesterday, but she's fine now after taking Dr. Cole's medicine. Don't you worry, Mr. Cyril. Dr. Cole's medicine is priceless, and Miss Lexton was back to her energetic self last night."

Cyril asked, "An allergic reaction?"

"Yes," Elise said thoughtlessly. She cautiously glanced around, then covered her mouth and lowered her voice. "Mr. Cyril, please keep this a secret when you see the old master. Miss Lexton doesn't want him to worry, so she told me not to say anything."

Cyril tilted his head slightly, rubbing his ear which felt like it was ringing. "Alright, I understand."

"What is it that I'm not supposed to know?" Leaning on his cane, the old master strode from the corridor into the garden hall, looking refreshed and energetic. The smile in his eyes deepened when he saw Cyril. "Oh, Cyril, you're here?"

Elise's face froze in embarrassment, her eyes darting everywhere. It's over! It's over! The old master is going to find out, and Miss Lexton will definitely know she has a big mouth.

Cyril shot a subtle glance at Elise before turning to walk toward the garden hall. "Grandpa."

Caspian had been too far away to hear clearly, only catching snippets about Dr. Cole and Miss Lexton. He smiled at Cyril. "What were you all talking about just now?"

"Hmm?" The old man raised an eyebrow, a bit confused. A kid with such a good temperament didn't seem to need any cultivating of inner peace. But he didn't say anything more. Setting down his cane, he picked up a handful of soil. "The soil is waterlogged. Have you been watering it day and night since you got back?"

Cyril nodded.

The old man picked up a small shovel and began to loosen the soil, explaining patiently as he worked.

"When it comes to raising flowers, you can't be too hasty. You have to give them some space to grow on their own. When the surface soil is dry, feel the soil underneath. If it's still damp, let it be. A young plant is still developing its roots, so too much water is actually bad for it."

Cyril listened thoughtfully.

Seeing his serious expression and eager-to-learn attitude, the old man went on to explain how to fertilize and control the room temperature. The entire process was long and tedious, but Cyril listened with great interest, asking questions from time to time.

After their conversation, Caspian found himself growing even fonder of this grandson he had picked up halfway through life.

Elise, hiding in the pavilion and peeking for a long time, saw that Caspian had no intention of asking any more questions. She couldn't help but press her hands together in a thankful gesture toward Cyril.
