Binding successful?!
Vivienne opened her eyes in disbelief, cradling the turtle in her hands, so thrilled she was on the verge of tears.
"From now on, you're my best tortoise bestie."
Cyril's eyelid twitched. He extended a finger and pressed it against Vivienne's forehead, pushing her away. "You're crushing me."
Vivienne was in a great mood and had no time to argue with him. She did a magnificent twirl and appeared before Caspian. "Grandpa, can I take Little Stray with me to Alderwick?"
Cedric was completely bewildered. What?! 'Little Stray' is a turtle?! Then what was the point of looking for stray cats and dogs all morning?
Caspian looked at the small turtle in her palm with a complicated expression. "I suppose you can, but they found that turtle in a stream on the back mountain. If you like turtles, Grandpa can get you a rare one."
"No, no, no!" Vivienne gazed lovingly at the small turtle in her hand. "I don't want a rare one, I just want him! We're destined for each other!"
Caspian was mystified, but he couldn't be bothered with such a small matter. He waved his hand. "If you like it, then keep it. That turtle has an injured right leg, so be careful. Don't let it die and then come crying to me."
"It's injured?" Vivienne's face lit up with excitement. She held the small turtle as if she'd found a priceless treasure. "Injured is good. Injured is perfect. Don't worry, Grandpa, I'll definitely heal it with my love."
The old man was a practical man through and through. His mouth twitched. "Love won't do it. It needs medicine. If you don't know how to handle it, ask Cedric."
Vivienne didn't hesitate for a second. She turned to Cedric. "Cedric, could you please get Dr. Cole for me? I need him to check on my tortoise bestie. Also, Marissa is good with her hands. Could you call her over, too? I want her to make some clothes for my tortoise bestie."
Cedric couldn't hold it in any longer. His mouth twitched as he looked at Caspian. Seriously? Dr. Cole is a titan in Athelvia's medical community, and you want him to examine a turtle?
Caspian waved his hand. "Just do as she says."
Cedric had no choice. He took two steps, then suddenly remembered something and turned back. "Um... Miss Lexton, who is Marissa?"
There was a Tessa, a Harper, and a Carolin at Obsidian Estate, but no Marissa.
"Oh, she's the maid who spoke up for me at Vellmont Lodge the other day."
Suddenly, a thought struck Cyril. He slowly lowered his eyelids, and a chill enveloped him.

The midday heat was oppressive. Vivienne cuddled Little Stray in her room, enjoying the air conditioning. After her relentless pestering, Dr. Cole had bandaged the turtle's leg with a dark expression on his face.
"How's that? Comfortable, right? Can you feel my deep and profound love?"
Little Stray lay on its back like a king, occasionally stretching its head and moving as if it truly understood her.
"Grandpa! Grandpa!"
As the girl and turtle were resting with their eyes closed, Bianca's boisterous shouting came from the courtyard.
Vivienne frowned and turned her back to the window.
