Grandma Cavanaugh hadn't come at this hour just for a simple visit. Talia personally guided the old woman into the estate, with Julian following silently behind.
Lana clung to Jade's arm, stealing covert glances at Vivienne. "Stormhollow really is full of incredible people. I don't think I've ever seen anyone that beautiful. Which Ravenshire daughter is she?"
Jade covered her mouth, whispering, "She's their adopted daughter, Vivienne Lexton."
She quickly added, "She's awful to be around. If you ever cross paths with her, stay far away."
Adopted daughter?
Anyone with a shred of social awareness could tell from Jade's tone that they were not on good terms.
Lana's eyes flickered.
Weren't the Ravenshires and the Cavanaughs practically family? Why were their daughters so hostile to each other?
Catching her confusion, Jade lowered her voice further. "You're new to Stormhollow, so you wouldn't know. The Ravenshire patriarch has three branches of descendants. Julian is from the second branch, and those girls are tied to the third. We Cavanaughs are only close to Julian."
Lana nodded thoughtfully, her gaze shifting shyly toward Julian's broad back.
Catching her look, Jade nudged Lana's shoulder with a teasing smirk. "Caught your eye?"
Lana's cheeks flushed, but then a frown marred her pretty face. "But... didn't you say he was a total playboy? You told me he cycles through girlfriends the second he gets bored."
"Ah." Jade scratched her head. "Well, yeah, that's true. But it's also a fact that he's incredibly top-tier. So you really need to think it over before deciding if he's worth the risk, Lana."
Lana's eyes darkened with quiet determination, and she gave a faint nod.
On the other side, Bianca tugged lightly on Vivienne's arm, her inner gossip goddess fully activated.
"I bet you anything that girl Lana has the hots for Julian. The way Grandma Cavanaugh was introducing her just now? Anyone with eyes can see she's trying to play matchmaker."
