July was radiant, carrying the unmistakable heat of midsummer.
On the sprawling highway, four luxury cars sped along.
The North District was Stormhollow's newest development. While it couldn't compete with the bustling city center, the endless expanse of turquoise lakes and lush green meadows thriving under the sun offered a wild, liberating beauty.
Bianca leaned against the window, letting the wind whip through her hair. Through the overlapping peaks, the curved eaves of the resort came into view.
"I heard just clearing the land for the North District cost over ten million dollars. Looks like the Cavanaughs have been making a killing these past few years."
Aurelia chimed in. "The Cavanaughs just secured the land. The ones actually bleeding money are the Bellamys from Westbay. They've poured hundreds of millions into this project. The hotel was originally supposed to open last year, but after some VIP guests complained about the experience, they delayed it to build an equestrian track, a sniper range, and a private winery."
Bianca raised an eyebrow. "How do you know all that?"
"I don't just know that; I also know the Bellamys are dumping money into this without caring about the returns. It's not standard business logic. Businessmen only care about whose pocket the money flows into. But the Bellamys are terrified of offending the VIPs, so they're operating completely at a loss."
Bianca's eyes widened in understanding. "So the Bellamys are trying to build the ultimate vanity project. Ambitious."
Aurelia smiled. "Well? Are you still mad at me for having afternoon tea with them?"
Bianca looked slightly embarrassed. "I wasn't mad. I've always supported you going out and making friends, right Vivi?"
Vivienne, who had been dozing off since they left the house, waved her hand dismissively. "Yeah, you were just furiously complaining about it."
Bianca went silent. "..."
Aurelia naturally didn't take it to heart. She glanced out the window. "We're almost there."
