Exhausted, Cedric placed the blood-stained cane back on the display rack, a look of sympathy crossing his face. "Mr. Alaric, Mr. Cyril, Julian... please follow me."
Leander finally lost his temper, slamming his hand against the table and jumping up. "Has the old man lost his mind? Beating you boys like this for no good reason! Julian, let's go. You're coming home with me."
Cedric frowned, his expression turning stern. "Watch your words, sir."
"I've been watching my words long enough! What more do you want?" Leander snapped back at Cedric. "In fact, you can tell the old man for me—I'm taking Julian back. He won't have to bother looking after him anymore."
With that, he grabbed Julian's arm to drag him away.
"Leander!" Dorian frowned, his face stone-cold. "What kind of nonsense is that? Are you out of your mind?"
Leander's words clearly indicated he intended to sever Julian's ties with Obsidian Estate. If things escalated to that point, the Ravenshire Group would have a new owner by morning. The second branch of the family shared certain intertwined interests, and Dorian absolutely could not allow such a division to happen.
Leander refused to back down, glaring at everyone in the room. "I'm not crazy. I'm perfectly lucid. Julian—"
Julian coldly wrenched his arm out of Leander's grip. "Don't touch me."
Leander was left speechless.
Cedric cleared his throat. "Right this way, gentlemen."
The three young men stood up, their expressions carefully blank, and followed Cedric out of the Conservatory.
Leander hesitated for a moment before finally giving in and rushing after them. "Are you just going to accept the punishment? Shouldn't you put some ointment on those wounds first?"
Julian moved surprisingly fast despite leaning heavily on a cane.
Leander's last shred of paternal concern vanished instantly. "You ungrateful brat!" he cursed, storming furiously back into the Conservatory. "If the old man asks, tell him I don't want this son anymore. He can beat him to death for all I care."
Dorian frowned, setting his teacup down. "More crazy talk?"
Leander adjusted his gold-rimmed glasses. "I am completely clear-headed right now. Just pass the message for me. I'm leaving."
Without waiting to see Dorian's reaction, he stomped out of Northwing Court in a huff.
Dorian's face darkened. Two years ago, Evelyn had lost all her sway with Caspian because of the Lara Arlington scandal. Now, with Leander throwing this tantrum, wasn't this just handing the advantage straight to the third branch on a silver platter?
