Chaos Girl Rewrites the Script novel Chapter 805

Early the next morning, before the sun had even fully risen, the sharp clatter of hammering and smashing echoed from the side of Vellmont Lodge.

Vivienne Lexton was jolted awake. She pulled the covers over her head and yelled in annoyance, "Marissa!"

"Coming, coming! Don't worry, I'll go check it out," Marissa called back.

She hurriedly ran out of the courtyard to inspect the commotion.

What she saw nearly gave her a heart attack.

A gaping hole had been smashed into the side courtyard wall, and the adjacent garden path was halfway covered in debris. A pile of red bricks and gravel sat on the walkway. Several workmen in gray tank tops were shoveling cement into a mixer.

Dumbfounded, Marissa jogged over and gently tapped the foreman on the shoulder. "Excuse me, who told you to build a wall here?"

The mixer was too loud. The foreman leaned in, didn't catch her words, and immediately signaled his crew to shut off the machine.

"What did you say?" he asked.

Marissa pointed toward the courtyard. "I'm the head housekeeper for this lodge. Who authorized you to start working here at the crack of dawn?"

The foreman paused, scratching his head. "I have no idea. We're just following orders."

Another worker, who was chipping away at a brick, stood up, wiped his brow, and spoke to the foreman with a heavy accent. "It's the guy who asked to borrow our forklift yesterday."

"Forklift?" Marissa didn't quite understand. The mention of a forklift instantly reminded her of Alaric Ravenshire showing up yesterday with a literal forklift full of gifts. She couldn't help but wonder if Mr. Alaric was behind this.

Seeing her silent, the foreman prepared to resume work. Marissa quickly intervened. "Hold on, guys. Your construction noise is disturbing Miss Lexton's rest. This estate is massive. Why don't you go work on something else for now?"

"Well..." The foreman knew the residents of this estate were incredibly wealthy and not to be offended. He readily agreed. "Fair enough. We'll come back when it's convenient for the young lady."

"Miss Lexton usually doesn't wake up until after ten," Marissa explained. "She rests between two and four in the afternoon, and you absolutely can't make noise in the evening because she meditates."

"What?" The brick-chipping worker looked thoroughly shocked. "Your lady is only available for three hours a day?"

Marissa was so accustomed to Vivienne's biological clock that she didn't find anything wrong with it. "That's right."
