"Cedric, let's go," Marissa said.
Cedric remained silent for a moment before speaking with a serious tone. "Marissa, you know the rules of Obsidian Estate. You need to handle your family matters cleanly. Don't let this happen again."
Wiping her hands on her apron, Marissa looked at him with immense gratitude. "Thank you for the warning. Don't worry, I understand."
Just as the gate to Vellmont Lodge closed, the door to the opposing Blackbriar Wing slowly opened. Lennox Raynor stepped out carrying a watering can.
Seeing him, Cedric walked through the garden path toward Blackbriar Wing.
Lennox had spotted Cedric the moment he stepped out. He originally wanted to pretend he hadn't seen him and turn back, but since Cedric was already approaching, he had no choice but to brace himself and offer a greeting.
"Cedric."
Cedric nodded. "How are Mr. Cyril's injuries?"
Cedric had been the one to administer the lashings to Cyril Ravenshire. Although he was just following orders, standard etiquette dictated he ask about his recovery when they crossed paths.
Lennox's eyes darted away nervously. "He's doing quite well."
Well enough to scale a wall last night, Lennox thought.
Lennox was a dull, straightforward man who could barely string a sentence together. Cedric was used to this. After exchanging pleasantries, Cedric gave a brief nod and exited the inner courtyard.
Lennox let out a covert sigh of relief, gazing toward Vellmont Lodge with a deeply troubled expression.
It was morally bankrupt for his boss to be infatuated with Miss Lexton. Should he really be supporting such depravity?
Before he could figure it out, Moira Nash arrived at the door carrying a thick stack of documents.
*
Three minutes later, in the main living room.
Cyril accepted the hefty pile of files without even lifting his eyelids, casually tossing them onto the coffee table. "Thanks for making the trip."
Moira's gaze slowly shifted from the documents on the table to the young man in front of her. What she had just handed over were all the resources and connections Dorian Ravenshire had accumulated in Merriton City over decades. This wasn't just a file; it was a transfer of power.
Seeing her standing perfectly still, Cyril looked up, his eyes gentle. "Is there something else, Ms. Nash?"
Moira carefully considered her words before speaking. "Sir, the other side found out you're about to depart for the A.N.S. Azure. She's been causing a scene, demanding to see Mr. Ravenshire."
