Chapter 124
Caleb’s POV
The next day arrived. The day of my wedding.
Without my input, the Elders had decided to hold it within days to stave away rumors and keep Felicia’s reputation intact. I didn’t fucking care. Whether I got married to her or not, there was no point anymore.
The morning dawned and I was up, but I lay awake staring at the ceiling for more than ten minutes before a knock came on the door. I remained silent, inwardly done with everything.
I had lost her.
That was all that mattered.
My chest continued to ache. I had tried everything in the past couple of days from alcohol to medicines to distractions, it never changed.
The knock came again and I growled.
“What?!”
A beat later, I could hear the shuffling and muffled voice of my best friend.
“Caleb, something’s happened. This is serious.”
A part of me wanted to say ‘Screw it’, and yell at him. But I wasn’t unreasonable, and I didn’t wish to make the support of the only person that still stood by me. eyes
Rising from the bed, I opened the door, gritting my teeth as Jacob rushed in. I noticed how disheveled he was, his dark and panicked. He didn’t look like he slept a wink the entire night
“I’ve been searching for Sabrina all day yesterday,” he quickly explained. “I can’t find her, Caleb. She’s gone. I swear to the fucking goddess, of grandfather hadn’t told me to be patient and give her space, I never would have done that. Now she’s nowhere to be found.”
Really?
My brows raised.
“Did you ask her best friend?” I asked without bothering to mention her name. Her name lit a fuse in me that couldn’t be quenched most times. Even just the whisper of it drove me insane.
Jacob paused, and his jaw clenched as he hissed, “That’s the thing. She’s not there either. I’ve searched the Pack houses, everywhere they could be in the compound. Neither of them are here.”
This was news.
Hearing that set my traitorous heart racing. For an instant I felt a hint of worry in my body. But then I remembered the words she had said to me.
‘I don’t love you.’
“That has nothing to do with me,” I icily replied. “What do you expect me to do? Today’s my ceremony.”
“It’s not like you even fucking care about this farce of a wedding man,” Jacob’s frustration had given way to a little anger. “I’d like to keep my mate, if you don’t mind.”
“Perhaps she doesn’t want to keep you,” I growled.
Jacob reacted angrily, his hand moving to grab the collar of my shirt, raising the other hand to hit me.
“That’s enough.” a cold voice rang out behind us.

I straightened, and Jacob let out a frustrated huff, the both of us turning at the same time to stare at Master Killian.
“Master Killian, I hadn’t expected your presence,” I said, gritting those words out. After all, his own mate Eric, was the mate of the woman I didn’t want to hear about.
“Neither did I expect to return so quickly, Alpha Caleb,” Killian’s eyes narrowed on me, and I saw he too was angered. The glare was aimed at me, and I knew it had to do with the wedding today. But then he looked away, closing his eyes briefly and taking a deep breath. When he exposed he opened his eyes again
“Im here to ask about Eric,” Killian’s voice was much softer. My brows furrowed; what the hell did I have to do with Eric Nolan?
“He’s not in the Pack,” Jacob answered, releasing his hold on my now-wrinkled shirt.
“Exactly,” I added, crossing my arms.
“I gathered that,” a mildly sarcastic tone left Killian’s lips. “He was meant to report back at the Crimson Pack two days ago. But he hadn’t. I’ve heard no word of him, which is why I’m here
Jacob paused a moment.
“That makes three people missing then, since Sabrina and Daria are missing as well.”
A chilling, unwelcome sensation enveloped me at the mention of HER.
“Don’t,” I stopped them before they could continue their conversation. “Im getting married this morning. Whatever you want, I cannot help you until afterwards. This has nothing to do with me.”
Both Jacob and Killian eyes me, but I wasn’t about to let them run my morning any more than it already was.
“Guards,” I called. Two appeared, Callum and one other. “Escort Master Killian and Beta Jacob to their places. I want no disturbances.”
“Yes Alpha.” Callum bowed.
