Chase Me Alpha (Daria and Caleb) novel Chapter 125

Chapter 125

Caleb’s POV

At first it was disbelief that filled me. I had never expected those words to be uttered. Every bone in my body wanted to reject them as falsehoods. But then I saw the look of seriousness on Sabrina’s face, her rage was real. Her pain was real. And Eric’s too. I knew they would never lie about such a thing, no matter how much they hated her.

Then I turned and saw Felicia stumble back. Her eyes searched around, her face contorted into a dark look that wasn’t there before.

I knew. It was true.

Every single thing.

I saw red.

I moved towards her, my body trembling from the force of my fury.

Everyone saw it. And no one stopped me this time.

“Caleb, you can’t believe her!” Felicia was speaking rapidly, stumbling backwards. I cut her off with a single grab to the neck. She began to struggle, her face turning red.

“I should have killed you when I had the chance,” I growled, feeling a distinct itch underneath my skin. My wolf roiled inside me, urging me to release it from my hold, to show itself and rip felicia to shreds. Unknown to me, my eyes gleamed with a silvery grey, my canines elongating and jutting out of my lips. I didn’t look sane, nor did I feel it.

“Wait!” Eric Nolan’s voice interrupted. My grip on Felicia only tightened. Then I felt someone draw near from behind. “We need to get Dari back now! And she’s Jamal’s mate. If we can use her as a hostage…!”

I stilled. He was right, I thought. I still need her.

I released her, watching her crumple to the ground.

She whimpered a little, before dissolving into a series of loud and hacking coughs.

Then she threw her head back, shoulders shaking with mirth. Her eyes were full of hatred.

“You’ve already lost,” Felicia snarled, her smirk provocative. “That bitch is going to die, all because of you! She’ll never be free!”

Her eyes were clear and her voice rang through the arena. The mask was completely off and everyone saw her for what she truly was.

“Guards! Bind her!” I ordered, still holding on to the last vestiges of patience I had left.

“Even if you take me, it doesn’t change anything! She hates you now, Caleb! You cost her everything!” She laughed again. The guards moved with precision, grabbing her by the arms. “And guess what? The reason she lost that child? It’s because of me! You didn’t think I knew she was pregnant? She would have ruined everything back then! I had to do something!”

I thought I had heard it all. But this admission of hers sent chills clown my spine.

“Y-you…” Sabrina paled. “You what?”

“She’s insane,” I heard someone mutter, and I clenched my hands, my knuckles cracked from the force of my fists flexing.

I should have known.

A bitterness rose up in me. I should have known.

That was why Daria couldn’t forgive me, why she had stopped loving me.

I had not only screwed up, I had burnt every trace of love in her with my actions.

Suddenly a shout broke through.

“Fire!”

Everyone turned towards the source of the sound, only to see black smoke emerging, and the smell of soot in the air.

Then, loud growls burst through, and the crowd dispersed, screams in the air.

Rogues.

I jumped into action, ordering the warriors to act.

“Kill them all!”

I had no desire to take prisoners. My blood was hot. Every one of them would die!

Jacob and Killian moved to protect their mates, escorting them and the rest of the civilians through to safety. Meanwhile Alpha Townsend had come with some of his guards, and we stood shoulder to shoulder, on the defense. The rogues had to be at least twenty and multiplying with every second.

They must have been in standby all this time, and all because of her.

Felicia.

I turned to see the guards holding her being attacked. The rogues were merciless, ripping their throats out. A few of them flanked Felicia, who stood with a smile on her face. Her eyes met mine, and she waved tauntingly.

No. She wouldn’t escape!

I dashed towards them, shifting within seconds. Several rogues shifted as well, jumping in front of Felicia as she was escorted away.

I lost it, and charged at them without a care. If we couldn’t get her, Jamal would definitely be much harder to get at.

The fight took barely minutes, but in that time everything went to hell.

All the rogues I had fought lay dead at my feet, blood painting the floor, sinking into the soil beneath us.

They were gone.

I let out a loud, keening howl, which shook the entire forest.

My shift back to my human form was almost instantaneous, and grabbed clothes from a waiting guard. The chaos had passed, but there was much to do. My body still simmered with heat.
