Chapter 32
Daria’s POV
The shock was slowly fading from my system.
What had happened? Who had framed me?

The questions churned in my mind as the guards led me to the ells. They seemed to notice I had no intention of struggling, so they didn’t even make a move to restrain or hold
y arms.
They simply guided me and flanked my sides like bodyguards. Instead of feeling anger or sadness I felt numb, of course fate had to find a way to mess with me again.
I shouldn’t have ever set foot in this pack. I should have learned my lesson properly after the hell I faced the last time. Should have refused to return and heal Elder Gerome. I should ave just bit the bullet and left this region entirely instead of lingering. It had caused this, caused more chaos to my life and now I was going to pay the price.
Regret mixed with quiet determination began to seep in. I heard screams and mumbles from some other prisoners then looked up to find Raul staring at me.
He was in the other cell across from me, his eyes were filled with some sort of glee that was dark and made me inwardly flinch.
“Well well,” he chuckled hoarsely. “You must have done something to piss the bastard Alpha off as well.”
My lips pressed thinly before I decided to reply with a curt, “I haven’t done anything. I’m not like you have Raul.”
“Oh? Still defending him then?” He laughed loudly which echoed through the cells.
The air stunk of cold and damp which made my nose feel stuffed. I rubbed at it gently to ease the feeling.
I didn’t want to talk to Raul now, he appeared even more unhinged than I’d expected of him.
How had I not seen this before? The way he hid his true feelings
“You think you can ignore me Daria but you can’t. You should have stood by me, Alpha Caleb isn’t the type to forgive
traitors.”
My ears pricked and I whipped my head to stare at him. His eye were full of knowing and I knew then that he had an idea why I was in the cell, taken as a prisoner.
“What do you mean?” I asked him openly. “I’m not a traitor like ou, Raul, You clearly have been involved with a lot more than just your Pack’s matters.”
“My pack trusts me,” he sneered imperiously, rising to his feet. Te cell was so short that the tops of his head nearly touched the ceiling. “Just you wait. You will regret ever trying to distance yourself from me, maybe if all goes well you’ll get another chance to show your support.”
“You’re disgusting Raul,” I shot back. “Did you really think you could try to drug me and it would all go well? Your little trick backfired”
His grin froze and turned menacing
If he could shift now I knew he would by to tear me apart, desp the hars that separated us thad to take another look to
confirm he was still chained
The chains would prevent him from shifting and I was safe Moy

Instead I began to organize my thoughts. There was a lot that gae me clues that I was a specific target. But why?
Closing my eyes I breathed in and out deeply, putting myself in meditative state helped to shield me from the noise of the outdoors, from Raul’s words, and even from my deepest fears.
The calm that enveloped me helped me to drift off a little. And when I woke up it was to the sounds of shuffling.
Footsteps filled the air and I raised my head to see a maid shove plate through the tiny gap. It was bread and a thick veggie
stew.
My stomach growled despite my reluctance to eat the offensive poking meal. Nevertheless I knew I had to conserve my energy and focused on mopping up as much of the stew I could with bread.
Once I felt my stomach was full I pushed the plate aside towards the gap and drank the small cup of water that was by the
corner.
I laid back down on the floor, listening for any sounds.
Raul was silent and so were the rest of the prisoners. Thank the goddess, I thought tiredly while I went back to sleep.
All of a sudden a sharp sound brought me back to reality, I opened my eyes, only to find the daylight had gone completely. It was nighttime, and the cells were so dark with only a few flickering candles that caused warm hazy shadows across the walls.
I didn’t make a move to stand up, mostly because my limbs were unwilling to move so quickly after waking. But also because I heard whispering, feeling grateful that I was facing the wall I began to listen.
“Elijah’s waiting for the signal from us,” it was a woman’s whispe “I’m sorry we couldn’t wait for you to return, leader.”
“It’s fine, even better now that we can speed up our plans. The Wisteria pack will fall, all our games with the other packs have prepared us for this,” I could hardly contain my gasp when I heard Raul’s voice.
Leader?
Packs?
I lay still and tried to steady my breathing while connecting the dots before me.
So Raul was a leader. Of what?
The unmistakable sound of a lock turning made me grit my teeth. It was clear that Raul had held more secrets than I knew before.
He was not just a Beta and he planned on destroying the Wister Pack.
“We need to retreat and prepare for the attack.” The woman begin to say,
“Want”
Just one single word from him and the woman fell silent, then card footsteps.
“I know you’re awake Daria’ his voice was tinged with amusement
My heart sped up
