Chase Me Alpha (Daria and Caleb) novel Chapter 33

Chapter 33

Caleb’s POV

If she hadn’t somehow gotten a message to me on time I might have believed that she was truly the one hurting Elder

Gerome.

Different parts of my mind and emotions warred with each other as I trusted Elder Gerome’s aide to never lie about this.

Yet, during that tiny sliver of time when her belongings and medicine box were being searched, she had managed to get to speak to me with no one present.

“Elder Hale is one of them. Be careful, I think it’s a trap,” she had managed to whisper before Jacob suddenly turned up and the air was thick with tension once more.

At first I had doubted it. Elder Hale was one of those who had watched my rising to the top as Alpha of the Wisteria Pack. He always regarded me as a grandson and showed respect no matter what.

But hearing that, something clicked. This wasn’t just coincidence anymore.

“Elder Hale is currently busy in a meeting with Beta Draco, Alpha Caleb.” The guard had reported less than a minute ago.

My hands twitched.

She must have figured it out long before I had.

I dismissed the guard with a cold order, “Inform him and Beta Draco, they are to report here within the hour. No delays.” Just as the guard was leaving Jacob was strolling in. He looked exhausted and had a sheen of sweat on his forehead. “Guess what the hell I found,” he said as he tossed a stack of papers on the desk, I reached for it and opened the first page.

“What’s this?” I asked as I regarded the paper.

There was a list of dates, times and names.

Some of them I recognized and others I didn’t.

“I got someone to infiltrate Elder Hale’s study like you’d asked, it wasn’t easy but I managed to find this. A record of meetings. Meetings that don’t involve the pack even with the Starlight Pack without our knowledge. This is not a good sign.” Jacob paced alert and right with one hand in his hips while he talked.

He looked tense and furious with brows knitted together.

Well this was it.

A smoking gun of evidence to lay against the Elder.

“This “Jacob growled loudly “Fucking treason. That’s all this is can’t believe this was going on right under our damn

I couldn’t believe it either. Or rather, I wouldn’t have if Daria hadn’t warned me

All her predictions were right. She had seen through everything like a true Luna would and I could only wallow us regret that I had once jet her go

The sense of empuness in my chest built up like a void then came a feeling of longing

I stood, letting out a sharp exhale, I was determined to see this though.

It was time to clean the house.

“Send for all the warriors, I want all these people taken down now

And so we began our move. Instead of going all out at first I had the warriors engage in stealth. Those who could handle the strenuous tasks were sent to the Starlight pack. The rest slowly waited for my orders.

Elder Hale came in right before the hour deadline was up. Following behind him directly was Beta Draco, who bore a small smile, polite as always. I let my expression relax as I watched them take a seat across from me.

As soon as they did I spoke up, holding the teaspoon gently while watching them stir their teas and sip without suspicion.

“I’m sure you both wondered why I called you here. There was a lot to discuss, particularly to do with Elder Gerome.” I began.

Almost as if on cue Elder Hale cleared his throat.

“May I say that now I regret pushing for you to bring that Healer here. She was one of the greatest mistakes we have ever made, Alpha Caleb. I know she may hold a grudge against us all but for her to go as far as to poison him. The trailed off and shook his head bitterly.

I smirked at the play he was using.

“What do you think? We need a punishment fitting for her actions, Beta Draco added. “It is your call. Alpha. You make the final decisions….but Elder Gerome needs to know that we do not tolerate this.”

I couldn’t hold back anymore. A laugh escaped from my lips and the entire room fell silent.

“You’re right Draco. A punishment will be given,” I regarded them both. “But not to her.

Both of them exchanged a glance and I could tell their confusion was growing. “Alpha Caleb. Don’t tell me you—”

“I’m telling you that there’s no way that anyone guilty will go untouched, Elder Hale. Not even you.”

The silence that followed now was deafening.

I continued conversationally while stirring my tea. It was a lovely scent but I focused on their expressions.

“You see, Elder Hale, I have a list and everyone in it is going to be facing the wrath of the Wisteria Pack. No matter who they are.” I finished.

I pulled out a page from the list and immediately Elder Hale paled and stood up abruptly.

“Sit” I growled. “The fuck down! Or you will find your life suddenly forfeit.”

I dicked my fingers and a guard appeared as if from the shadows Beta Draco’s eyes to the side and back to me.

If looks could kill I’d be dead already

Elder Hale sat back down without a word. But this time his back as straight as if he was sitting on prax and needles His eyes bulged out and fraught the faint hint of sweat on his brow

He was wavering

“The list is already in the council’s hands. All except those who

guilty five of the fucking Ekters who joined in on this conspirary and of course, everyone else has been arrested Inching your command most of your family. Draces”

It seemed my last sentence was the trigger for a show of rage from my former Beta as he growled and slammed his hands the table. The tea set shook from the force of it.

“You think this means anything? Alpha Caleb I have given you th due respect you think you deserve. But it means nothing. I am above you as I always have been,” He snarled.

I eyed him with mild disinterest. He was truly losing it.

“And that gives you the right to plot against me. Work with the Sarlight Pack against ours, use rogues to solve the problem of having me as Alpha?” I asked rhetorically.

A cold chuckle left my lips then. “Don’t engage in foolishness Draco. Your family was nothing but lucky to be considered for the position of leadership. You are nothing but mediocre, all you have is your title and bloodline. I have risen despite the

lack of either.”

He growled and raised his hand as if to deal a blow but suddenly he groaned and lowered his hand, then he fell to his knees.

Elder hale glared at me. However there was little heat behind it, only pain.

I smirked.

“No… what the fuck’s going on?” Draco growled.

Then he raised his head to look at me pouring out the tea into a

Realization flickered in his eyes.

“You poisoned us. Bastard fucker. You poisoned us-”

I cut him off with a satisfied smirk.
