We ended up having lunch in Caleb’s private lounge. In all the times I had stayed in wisteria in the past, my eyes have never crossed this place. Caleb never allowed it.
Maids brought in several dishes that bore an unmistakable aroma that would make even the smallest mouth water. I inhaled. sharply as a small dish of mushroom and chicken pie was placed before me.
It was one of my favorite meals. A comfort meal that I had indulted in before I was forced to marry Caleb.
How had Caleb figured that out?
“Is it not to your liking?” Caleb asked, his eyes on me, and I tensed as Jacob’s and Sabrina’s eyes temporarily landed on me.
He knew this was my favorite all this time, didn’t he?
I then remembered when Caleb had been out for nearly two days and I had no idea when he would be back.
Back then, I still had hope he’d change, and his cold heart would be warmed by my dedication.
So instead of complaining or reacting much to the pack’s whispers aimed at me, I comforted myself by burying myself in novels and staying in bed.
I also had the chef make me several mini pies of mushroom and chicken exactly the way I liked it.
Caleb had not been happy when he heard. Instead of acknowledging my calmness in the face of his coldness he accused me of being demanding and picky with my meals and acting like I was above everyone.
My hands trembled slightly as the emotions I felt in the past seemed to surge inside me now. I didn’t say anything, instead I calmly pushed the pie towards Sabrina and said to Caleb,
“I have no appetite for this dish now.”
Unintentionally, my words came out as biting, almost angry. I saw Caleb’s expression flicker to a mildly hurt one.
I looked away and busied myself with eating the other dishes but my favorite one.
No one spoke again, as the only sound that could be heard was the clinking of our cutlery.
I could feel his gaze on me, but I refused to look up at him.
After a while, Jacob finally broke the silence, “Actually there was something we wanted to ask you Daria.” He began, and 1 faced him, “What could that be?”
“Not many could have healed my grandfather the way you did. you can, we’d like for you to teach the pack doctor and his apprentices on your methods.”
“That’s a good idea, Sabrina responded a moment after Seemingly unaware of Jacob’s preening smile at her, she turned to me “Would it be possible?”
I silently mulled Jacob’s and Sabrina’s words over, distracted sudiently from my other thoughts. Then I nodded. “That makes sense, so I won’t have to come back here again”
At my last words, Caleb immediately shifted in his seat before ng Jacob made to talk, but he just stormed out, slamming the door behind him. It shook the walls and table on which we a

“You don’t have to explain to me. I don’t care about what’s making him upset,” I cut him off. Already I felt exhausted, had barely been thirty minutes since we sat here having lunch at their request.
“But you know your words hurt him,” Jacob argued. I kept my expression stony and didn’t bother to respond.
There was no need to. Everything that needed to be said had already been spoken, and now I refused to get myself into their dramatics.
The lunch ended abruptly. By the time the maids were clearing up the table, I was already on my feet and ready to leave.
Caleb still hadn’t returned, and I tried not to care.
But Jacob’s statement lingered in my mind. Me, hurting the ruthless Alpha Caleb of Wisteria Pack with my

words?
I wasn’t blind to the fact that his words weren’t aimed at me or the way his eyes lingered on Sabrina, who stood beside me.
“Perhaps you could consider my offer, Sabrina.” he offered, a bright gleam of hope clear in them. Beside me, I felt Sabrina shift closer.
“I don’t think there would be a reason for me to do so,” she said but even in her words there was a hint of doubt that wasn’t there before.
I understood far too well what was going on. She had watched what had happened to me, so it’s only normal for her to be hesitant.
Or perhaps she believed that I would be angry, but in the real sense, I’m not. I cared about her and I wouldn’t blame or stop her for chasing her happiness, I only hoped it wouldn’t hurt her
Exiting the lounge, I escorted Sabrina to her bedroom before we parted ways, after which I headed to my bedroom.
But just on my way, I was pulled into a corner. My breath hitched as my eyes met with a pair of intense gray eyes staring straight at me.
My heartbeat doubled a million times.
“Alpha Caleb,” I said his name, keeping my tone as neutral as possible to not give anything away.
He remained standing there in silence, blinking, but never look away from me. It was like he was frozen to a spot.
Was he just going to stay there?
I growled under my breath. Shaking my head, I looked away. Its better to ignore him.
I tried to walk away, but he held me back, pinning me to the wall “Is this the way you want things to go, Daria?”
“Do you always have to pin me to the wall?” I questioned back, and his gaze flickered to my lips, mine subconsciously did
the same.
Our faces were so close, and then he replied, “does being close you affect you that much”
All of a sudden, it felt difficult to breathe properly and just who thought he shifted himself away, much to my surprise
