Chase Me Alpha (Daria and Caleb) novel Chapter 54

Chapter 54

Caleb’s POV

It happened all in an instant. Before my eyes Alpha Kingston didn’t hesitate to grab Daria by the neck.

The sharp cry from her pierced my heart and shook away the disbelief from the sight.

Daria had implied it but I never could have imagined that her own father would do it to his own kin. Being violent like this against his daughter in front of me, what would he do if I wasn’t the room?

“You useless girl!” Alpha Kingston growled as she fought to escape his hold. I didn’t need to see the malicious intent in his posture.

“Alpha Kingston! Let her go now,” I commanded, raising my hand to signal the guards. They surrounded us in a split second. waiting for an order to strike from me. But I stayed my hand. If could reason with the Red Vale Pack alpha it would be easier for me to get information I needed.

But Daria didn’t think the same way. As soon as her father’s grip was loosened she began to lash out at him in panic. Her eyes were wild and fearful.

“Let go of me,” she yelled at her father. Alpha Kingston snarled and held his daughter by the shoulder, shaking her.

“So you have finally returned huh? Done with your stupid tantrums?!”

Thwack!

The slap he dealt Daria rang out and I couldn’t hold back any longer. Unrestrained, I stormed forward in less than five steps. grabbed Alpha Kingston and flung him against the far wall. He fell at the foot of a few guards who prevented him from moving towards our direction any further.

I stood protectively in front of Daria, shielding her.

“Alpha Kingston!” My voice had gone cold. Seeing how he treated her in front of everyone was telling. “I warned you. Yet you dared to touch her!”

“I dare!” He growled back furiously. “She is my daughter and belongs to me!”

“No I don’t. I am not your property,” Daria shot back from behind me.

A murderous expression flashed across Alpha Kingston’s eyes and so did a brief look of calculation.

“So that’s why you had the guts to run him?” He sneered openly at everyone but the words were aimed directly at his daughter. Daria had fallen silent at it. “You’re nothing but a cowardly disobedient child! An embarrassment to my bloodline!”

A pain lanced through my heart and I felt the weight of those words. If they were aimed at me, I would’t care. But I knew Daria Despite her trying to be strong she cared a little too muc

I spoke reclaiming his attention with case and a heated glare ducted straight at hun

“Alpha Kingston you overstep. You already have a whole damin to to answer for Anst now this? I growled. Take it or leave it. If you care what happens to your beloved pack then you will fogize to her

Half rapected Alpha Kingston to be his usual cowardly well and low his head But it seemed his emotious has overtaken bin and he chuckled so loudly that the walls shock with the ecle K bis laoglue A chill ran down my spine. That wasn’t normal it was ammaniacal laughter ko dark that it sent my wolf cooling at the open the was underlying it

“So was this your plan Alpha Caleb? To lie to me? Had she even disappeared at all or did you have fun trying to deceive

me?”

“He’s mad.” Daria whispered to herself and I caught it. I agreed gently

Growling. I let my claws extend from my fingers and my canine lengthen into sharp fangs. If it was a fight he wanted then I would give it to him plain and simple. I wasn’t the leader of the most powerful park in the region for nothing

The guards tightened the perimeter.

Meanwhile Alpha Kingston shook visibly. Whether it was out of anger or fear I didn’t know. But he raised his head and glared defiantly at me.

“Alpha Caleb,” he seethed. “You gave your word that you would ally with the Red Vale pack. Are you going to throw all that away simply for the sake of this stupid girl!!”

“That’s my mate you’re talking about.” I warned none too gently. His eyes darkened.

“And she is my daughter. I know her better than anyone else does. She is nothing but a mindless fool.”

Out of the corner of my eye I saw Daria stiffen. I didn’t know what thoughts were running through her mind now but I knew that those words her father said had to have hit hard.

Even I, as cold as I could be, held nothing but anger for her sake.

She hadn’t told me things were this bad.

Seeing things now for myself was vastly different for me.

I had already made my decision to sever ties with the Red Vale Pack whether Alpha Kingston apologized or not.

“You want to defend her? Fine,” he pointed at me. “Return her to me. This marriage has long been dissolved. She belongs to the Red Vale Pack now. Back with me.”

His words made me chuckle. If I didn’t laugh I would have let loose with rage.

Who the fuck did he think he was to tell ME what to do? In my own pack no less?

“That tongue of yours needs cutting,” I said. “And I am willing to accept the challenge.”

“Stop!” Daria unexpectedly pushed past me and faced her father I can speak for myself Alpha Caleb her voice though shaky was full of certainty.

“Oh?” Her father threw his head back and laughed once again. “You Dare tk soesk before an alpha thag way, daughter? The rumors must be true then. You have grown insolent. Not to worry. I would correct that little misbehavior”

She flinched and took a step back

But her back was straight and her arms stiffly sat by her sides. He hands were clenched tightly into fists and she breathed heavily

“I dare she softly replied in a choked voice.

My heart clericlied she was crying. Frealized.

My instinch were serranding at me to get her out of here but I pest myself

She deserved to face her father at least once un let own sins

Still I was reminded starkly of the way she had cried in her bedroom two nights before. Back then her tears had moved me so badly that I could think of nothing but keeping her close.

Now I also wanted to skin Alpha Kingston alive and have his bod fed to the pigs.

“I have fulfilled your will, father. For long enough I have been a daughter you could control. For long enough I have done as you ordered. I had grown up in your shadow, with no warmth from you,” Daria’s voice was low, almost a whisper. Yet it carried through the entire room.

“That’s the duty of a daughter. You exist as my legacy, and nothing more,” he snapped, sharply dismissing the hurt tone she sported.

I pressed my lips tightly. Even now he didn’t care for her. I may have grown up without my parents but even I had experienced love and care as a child. The elders had provided for me and made me feel safe. I had never longed for a father or mother as much as any other in my own shoes.

Yet here was Daria still lacking the one thing I’d possessed in droves.

I couldn’t stand it. Nor would I stand FOR it.

“That’s enough,” I roughly said and took over. With one flick of my wrists the guards behind Alpha Kingston immediately grabbed him and forced him to his knees. He grunted and tried to struggle but he was unable to even move a finger.

His eyes blazed as he glared, not at me but at Daria.

“I’ll give you one more chance, Alpha Kingston. All it takes is an apology.” My tone brokered no arguments. His jaw was set and he looked vicious.

“You think you’re safe here,” he sneered at Daria. “But Alpha Caleb will not protect you. Once he’s done using you he will toss you aside like nothing! And when THAT happens, the goddess would be on my side. You will pay!”

I lost my temper.

The next thing I knew was grabbing Alpha Kingston by the neck tightening my hold much like the way he had done to my

mate.

He gasped and choked but was unable to defend himself. His silence and struggle was satisfying to say the least.

“This alliance is over. The Red Vale Pack will be on their own from now on,” I intoned with brevity. “Do not return.”

Then I released him and he collapsed bonelessly to the floor heaving in heavy breaths.

“Send him out. Him and his entire retinue will leave this very second. Should any of them try to remain, capture them,” I ordered coldly.

The guards didn’t waste any time in carrying out my orders.
