Daria’s POV
If one could die of embarrassment I would have gladly done so tonight.

My stammered words were choked out hoarsely even though my heart beat rapidly like the fluttering of bird wings against my rib cage.
I hadn’t been thinking back then, ten minutes ago when i had decided to find Caleb and talk with him without anyone else
knowing.
Coming to his bedroom had been my mistake.
“It’s okay Daria, Please stop,” Caleb’s words were firm. Yet his voice contained a husky tinge to it and my heart could only speed up even more in response.
The traitorous thing.
But how could I not feel that way. His body wet and pink and steaming from the fog was so damn delicious a sight to entertain. Just the one second glimpse I had taken was enough to set my mind off in the most perverted directions.
His scent was everywhere and somewhere inside me my instinct was to give into him.
I trembled as I turned around fearing I wouldn’t be able to hold back this feeling. This…….. ugly desire.
I didn’t get it still.
I still hated him right?
In every moment that passed with him there wasn’t a flicker of dark anger in me for the loss of my child and the last I had been through. So yea. I still didn’t want to be with him.
But why did it feel like my body never quite understood that?
Clearing my throat awkwardly I glanced up at Caleb. True to his word he was clothed as I had turned around. He wore a fitted shirt with black trousers that framed his lean muscular form very nicely. I pursed my lips then swallowed slightly at the sight of his damp hair shiny and sticking a little to his neck. Every part of him was flawless. A prime example of a powerful and perfect alpha.
I had to focus. I shook my head minutely as if to remember exactly why I was there.
Wordlessly I took out the note and held it out to him. He stared at it briefly then back at me. His brows were furrowed a little and made his grey eyed gaze even more intense.
Then he asked slowly, “And this is…”
“A note that I got today. This afternoon to be precise.” I replied.
He stretched his hand out to take it and in doing so his hand brighed mine I shivered but resisted the urge to pull away Only when the note was in his grasp and he read it shid I continue to explaus. I have tried to make sense of it myself but there’s no way
His growd felt more like an answer than a response to the nute tuestion

“Already thought of it. The maid said she didn’t even know there was a note stuck to the back of the tray. She looked a little scared,” I told him.
His eyes flickered with annoyance.
“And you believe her.”
“I believe that she may have been a pawn. Sabrina traced her origins. She has family here in the pack and I doubt she’d want to collude with traitors or whoever this person is,” I snapped.
He fell silent briefly with his eyes wandering over the note again. Then he brought it up to his nose and inhaled deeply.
“The scent isn’t too clear,” I said. “It cannot be traced.”
“It can. If you have the right resources,” he muttered more to himself than to me. His tone was dark and full of promise. Unwitting I shivered and pitied the person who had tried to threaten me.
I didn’t like depending on Caleb much less anyone else. But now that I had to I wouldn’t shy away from it at all.
“Leave this to me. I’ll handle this. Whoever it is will be found,” Be assured and tucked the note into his pocket.
I couldn’t help but sneer. Suddenly the commanding tone only felt confining. Perhaps it was the hours I had spent locked in my bedroom and unable to even go out for a walk in the garden
“Whatever you find out I have to know,” I told him. “I have to be the first one to get
the news.”
He frowned slightly and tapped his hand against the edge of the table. He was much closer now. And his voice was a lower baritone that felt intimate.
“This Isn’t just about you, Daria. Thjs is also a pack matter. So whatever happens will be reported to the Elders first.” He emphasized. “Simply focus on staying indoors and not doing-”
“Not doing anything you mean. Being a pawn like I’m easy to control,” I cut him off. His eyes bore into mine and I grit my teeth. He was being too damn stubborn again. I wasn’t going to take it. “Alpha Caleb, My concern first and foremost is about my safety. I will leave the Wisteria Pack soon enough and I don’t want the enemies of your pack to think I am a target.”
“You don’t have to worry. I already said I’d handle it.” His eyes burned.
“How can I trust you? You haven’t even bothered to get my fathe out of the way.”
He fell silent and tilted his head towards the door. I frowned and was about to ask him what was the matter when I heard it
A knock
“Enter” Caleb ordered and gestured towards the curtains. I took the hint and swiftly moved towards the curtains. As the door opened I managed to successfully pull the curtains over my body.
“Alpha.” It turned out to be only a maid. “Alpha Kingston is waiting for you at the dining hall.”
My heart stopped.
The duung hall How could I forget?
I would have to pass the damn room in order to get to my bedroom I hadn’t planned for this. Shit

Meanwhile Caleb didn’t seem to share in my anxiousness. I heard his sharp intake of breath and his frustration laden voice rang out.
“Alright. I will be there.”
I waited with bated breath. Once the door was shut I came out from the curtains and asked, “What are you planning to do?”
“Exactly what I’m fucking trying to figure out,” He said with a cur tone. He wasn’t happy about this either. “You should leave before he finds you anywhere.”
I wish I could have refused. But seeing Caleb’s dark expression gave me the impression that I couldn’t afford to wait until Alpha Kingston was out of the dining hall.
I’d just have to be careful to sneak past.
I waited a few minutes after Caleb had left before I too exited his bedroom suite. It was a large expanse of hallways that I had to walk through sneakily. Each second I would turn my back and keep an ear out for any passing people.
The members of Caleb’s pack weren’t a problem. But Alpha Kingston wouldn’t have come here, no matter how hurriedly, without having a few guards and maids with him.
As I approached the dining hall I heard Alpha Kingston telling a ale in a raucous manner.
“And there I was with the four wolves at the mountain…”
I frowned slightly and rolled my eyes. He had told this tale one too many times and yet he never failed to twist it in every way. Sometimes it was a mountain. Other times it was a river. A few times there wouldn’t be four wolves but only three or two or five.
He never changed.
But he was sufficiently distracted and I took the chance. My footsteps slow and steady, I covered my face and began to slip past.
But just then I heard Caleb pointedly cut my father off.
