Chapter 65
Daria’s POV
55 vouche
The atmosphere in the pack was electric. As Sabrina and I left the Alpha’s mansion flanked by guards and maids we received various looks, varied expressions. But most of all we received respect.
The bows of the pack members and their greetings followed us until we got to Beta Jacob’s house. The mansion was smaller than Alpha Caleb’s but held a similar manner of prestige that couldn’t hold a candle to a normal pack house.
Jacob stood at the door speaking with elder Gerome and another man who bore silver streaks in his dark hair. The man stood straight with his back to us and was dressed in a navy coloured suit that was cut in a militaristic fashion.
As we approached, one couldn’t miss how Jacobs eyes had lit up as he caught sight of Sabrina. She had chosen a peach colored gown with gold embroidery that both complimented her hair colour perfectly and also made her skin glow more.
“And this is my mate,” he swiftly and proudly introduced Sabrina to the man. Upon closer 1 section the man looked to be in his 40s or 50s, not as old as I had expected. And he looked a little familiar though I couldn’t for the life of me place a finger
to it.
The man bowed to Sabrina who had taken Jacob’s outstretched hand. I didn’t miss Elder Gerome’s smile, a clear sign of his glowing approval of my best friend.
“I look forward to being invited to your mating ceremony, Beta Jacob,” the man’s voice was smooth like his experienced deportment, showing he wasn’t a stranger to such situations.
“We will not forget, Master Killian,” Elder Gerome replied.
Then Master Killian turned his eyes to me and I bowed in greeting.
“Beta Jacob, Elder Gerome, Master Killian,” I addressed them all,
“And last but certainly not the least, this is the Alpha’s -” Elder Gerome was about to introduce me but I cut him short and smelled forward with my right hand outstretched to shake Master Killian’s.
“I am Healer Daria,” I said, “A guest if the Wisteria Pack “
Killian’s lips twitched into a small smile as he took my hand. Recognition crossed his features as our eyes met,
“You must be the famed Healer I have heard so much about. The Wisteria Pack should be honoured to have you in their presence. Your name is known throughout the region.”
His praises left me speechless for just a couple of seconds.
“I’m not that important,” I tried to explain while smiling ruefully
“But your work precedes you,” Master Killian replied. “And your work is nothing short of exemplary and miraculous. You healed Beta Orson of the Crimson Pack. He’d suffered that bone ailment for decades but no one could help him.”
That was when it clicked. My lips parted and a small chuckle let my lips.
“Then you must be the clusive master of the Crimson Pack guars.” I realized. “Beta Orson is your older brother, is he not?” “Was Beta Orson And I used to be the chief of the Guards of the Crimson Pack Now Tu retired,” Killian laughed lightly
I couldn’t imagine how comfortable Master Killian was with me also couldn’t imagine how I could be so relaxest in front of him. He was like no other delegate Id ever spoken with No still upper lip and certainly no airs about him. But there was something else there that I couldn’t pinpoint

It was then that a sharp clearing of one’s throat made both Killian and I turn to see Jacob and Sabrina standing with looks of masked discomfort on their faces.
Elder Gerome quickly took the lead and gestures towards the inter foyer.
“Master Killian, permit me to invite you for breakfast,” he said. Killian nodded easily and glanced at me briefly before releasing my hand.
A small breath left my lips and that was when I relaxed he had in fact still been holding my hand.
“It was a pleasure seeing you, Healer Daria,” Killian nodded. “I hope we can get to speak more later.”
Then he made his way into the elaborately decorated mansion.
I nodded absently, watching Elder Gerome go in after him. I was still trying to fathom it. Why was it that I felt like Master Killian and I shared a connection that was more than a passing interest?
“What’s up with you?” Sabrina’s questioning made me turn to look at her. Her beautiful face was adorned with a small frown. “Nothing Brina,” I sighed inwardly; had I gotten her upset again I was just thinking about something.”
“I hope it’s not about Master Killian,” she warned me. “I don’t approve of him. He’s way too old for your tastes-” “Goddess, no!” I burst out and shuddered inwardly. “It’s not that I promise you,” was all I could end with.
She gave me another warning look and pursued her lips as if she was about to say she didn’t believe me one bit.
I chuckled awkwardly and moved to stand at the other side of my best friend. Jacob didn’t say a word but his eyes spoke everything.
“It’s really not what you think… I was simply trying to remember something..” I mumbled a bit helplessly to myself.
How was I to explain to Sabrina that it almost seemed like Master Killian, over a decade and a half years older than me, felt like family?
I didn’t say anything more as a delegate arrived just at the right moment to distract us.
So there I stood, joining Beta Jacob and Sabrina in greeting the delegates. I didn’t bother too much to think on why it was that I had to join them
Be it my desire to distract myself from errant thoughts that ran through my mind like wildfire, or the discomfort that came with thinking of the Luna role I once couldn’t play – or wasn’t ALLOWED to play – I simply didn’t say anything and kept on handling the delegates like a pro.
Time passed and after some time Sabrina and I were left to our own devices. Without hesitation, she pulled me in the direction of the markets.
“Come on,” she giggled lightly.
We ended up going on a rampage. We tried out a large number fried and cinnamon-covered dough with an outer crunch, to be by a glass of lemonade spruced with mint leaves that left our tongues pleasantly tingling.
festival finger foods from delicious sausages wrapped in jerky that tasted so spice and could only be cooled down
It was invigorating, mingling among my kin and darting from stall to stall with pockets full of coms.
I felt the evening draw closer simply by the energy of the moon at flowed within us in waves. They kept rising and rising and soon the glow of the moon pulled us all
As die daytime festivities wound down and children were led by their parents back to their homes to be tucked in, the rest

of us adults knew it was only just the beginning.
Sabrina was insistent on me undergoing another lengthy makeover for the night.
“After the full moon run,” she said with glee. “I’ll come find you and we can get ready for the party together.”
I cringed inwardly, before opening my mouth to protest.
“But Brina, I told you I won’t be going for the full moon run.”
She shook her head at me firmly.
55 you
“You promised you would celebrate the full moon festival with Mr. Daria,” she jammed her pointer finger at my face with a pout. “Properly.”
