Caleb had promised with the word later, Later, as it turned out, became two whole days afterwards. The full moon festival
to be exact.
Shocker.
I nearly wondered after some time if he was deliberately doing this to avoid giving into my request.
He always knew how to get his way sometimes. So damn infuriating.
I grumbled lightly as the knock on the door persisted. It was morning.
But I had barely been able to get enough sleep and had kept up with the tossing and turning until the early hours of the morning.
I got up regardless, my bare feet shuffling across the cold hardwood floor. With a twist of the doorknob I pulled the door open and revealed the brightly smiling face of my best friend.
“Good morning!” Sabrina chirped eagerly as she entered my bedroom, followed by not one but TWO maids dressed simply yet in a neat and classy manner. Their uniforms bore the insigni of Beta Jacob’s family. And the two boxes they carted into my bedroom brought a sense of foreboding that made me swallow unconsciously.
“Morning,” I replied rather hoarsely in a begrudging tone. Truth be told, I hardly cared that today was the full moon festival all I longed to do was to bury myself in the cool bed sheets, press my face against the soft plush pillows and snore away to my heart’s content.
Of course, Sabrina wasn’t about to let that happen.
“Well you don’t sound so great,” Sabrina remarked, and came up to press the back of her cool hand against my forehead all concernedly. I growled a little and made a move to mockingly sent her hand away. She only chuckled daringly at my antics and shook her head fondly.
“You really don’t look like you got enough rest,” she finally stated while pulling her hand away
“That’s because I didn’t,” I replied, breaking off into a yawn. I covered my mouth and shut my eyes briefly, sighing heavily as exhaustion laid its heavy hand on me. “Goddess knows I may no actually go out today.”
I had promised to celebrate the Wisteria Pack full moon festival with Sabrina. It was a promise I had no desire to break and it would be her very first festival as Jacob’s mate.
Being the mate of the Beta came with certain responsibilities which I was sure put a lot of pressure on her. I wasn’t about to weigh my friend down with guilt or anything else when she already had a lot on her plate.
I had to do something to help her instead.
Changing the subject swiftly before she could remark on my wols, I gestured to the two open boxes
“So, what’s in the boxes?” I asked her “Don’t tell me they’re all f me. I have no time to go through all of this”
Sabrina’s smile widened. Then she slapped her hands and pulls out a dress from the first open box. It was a ghuttering number that shone even more brightly in the sun room.
Td like you to accompany me to meet some delegates Alpha Cafels out on a meeting this morning and won’t be back until evening. So it’s up to Jarab and I to make a good impression, st explained Having you by my side would helps a whole

“He’s out again?” I questioned broodingly while holding up a silk gown which she had tossed at me moments ago.
What exactly was Caleb up to this time? My mood grew considerably darker as more thoughts than through my mind in a flurry. He was up to something, my instincts told me that much And though most of it was likely not involving me or my business in any way, it still made me feel some type of way.
Suddenly an armful of dresses was dropped into my arms out of nowhere, thrusting my mind back to reality with a sharp jolt.
I growled lightly at Sabrina’s small pout.
“Brina, I can’t wear all this at once.” I protested. My own maid had entered and she bowed to us both all while holding a basket full of freshly laundered towels, sheets and clothes.
“Oh be quiet,” Sabrina shushed me and firmly began to push me in the direction of the bathroom. “Go in there and freshen up. Quickly now. We have a lot to do today.”
Sighing to myself. I knew I had no choice. Sabrina was a stubborn person who I had known to never give up once her mind was set on something.
Without another word I moved on to the bathroom, leaving a pile of exquisitely designed chaos in my wake.
The morning came with a lot of primping and dressing up. At first I was wholly exhausted and just so close to giving up and rolling back into bed without another word. Especially when it came to trying on a MOUNTAIN LOAD of dresses. Goddess knew I had little time to appreciate all of them.
But perhaps it was the energy Sabrina exhibited, coupled with the burst of visceral joy that the full moon always gave our kind: gradually I began to enjoy the rush and chaotic rhythm in which my best friend and the maids worked.
After trying on one too many dresses, we finally settled on the perfect ones for the daytime event. I shuddered a little to think of having to go through the same damn process for the evening party after the full moon run. Perhaps I could consider Sabrina to give it a rest..?
I briefly became lost in thought as strategies on how to distract my friend from her goal of dressing me up for the full moon festival activities served as my own distraction from the hubbub going on around me.
That is, until Sabrina spoke again.
“By the way,” she asked conversationally as the maids styled our hair and powdered our faces. “Will you be coming for the full moon run? This would be my first time doing it.”
“No. Definitely not,” I answered almost immediately.
Thinking of the full moon run, which was another sore spot in my past, I knew going to the forest to participate in it tonight would be a colossal mistake.
I still remembered the one and only time I had ever gone for a full moon run. Not in my childhood or the Red Vale Pack No Full moon runs were regarded as another mark of adulthood a sign that you had fully grown up and integrated into your future life with your mate and pack
It occured here in the Wisteria Pack
It was strangely warm for an autumn night and the atmosphere just right that evening.
I had stated into my wolf form as had everyone che, as they me their way to the clearing to begin the run. Various howls filed the aur Meanwhile I waited
