Caleb’s POV
The party was just getting started.

I looked over my reflection briefly and left my bedroom without wasting any time. I have enjoyed the parties of the full moon ever since I turned 18. Tonight would be no exception.
“Man, I think this would be the best one yet,” I heard Jacobs chuckle and saw my best friend approaching, wearing one of his favourite silk shirts.
“Because you have your mate with you,” I rolled my eyes at his lovesick attitude.
If anyone had told me that my best friend would actually fall for woman, I would have said that person was lying. But now here we were
As we reached the foyer, Jacob was brimming with impatience.
ready I could hear the sounds of music outside in the
distance. The party has begun. But where was Sabrina? And most importantly, where was MY own mate?
“Sorry, sorry,” Sabrina’s voice echoed down the hall and Jacob and I immediately turned to see the two of them descending
the steps.
My breath caught upon seeing Daria.
She always looked exquisite of course. But tonight she was more so.
Her dress draped over her svelte curves like a second skin and Iught a shimmer of glitter on her bare shoulders and arms as she moved.
Her hair was styled up into a loose bun with strands that framed her lovely face.
I had never wished to turn back time more than I had now. If I could I would have punched my past self in the face, I would have treated Daria the way she deserved to back then. With love and with respect.
“You’re forgiven,” I caught Jacobs breathy reply as he wound his arm around Sabrina’s waist and pulled her closer.
“I told you,” she giggled. “Us women have to take our time. That lives excellent results ”
I caught Daria’s slight eye roll at her best friend’s words. However I didn’t miss the smile on her face that was as doting and affectionate as ever.
Then her blue eyes slid to meet mine and her slime slowly faded as if it had never been there in the first place. Her cheeks became flushed with a redder hue than before, and she cleared her throat loudly.
“Sabrina, we should get going. I’ll see you later,” Daria stated before brushing past me without a word towards me. I couldn’t help it. I stared at her back and the slim waist she had as she sashyed out of the mansion into the dark night
Longing surred in me. A deep, dark longing that not just anything could satisfy. I had to make progress with her tonight.
I went alone to the party and saw it was already in full swing. The several pack members that saw me bowed deeply. But many others had already begun to dance and laugh and drink their heart’s content I smiled as I saw how everyone was happy the delegates from several packs greeted me as they made then way to then seats, the best ones in the intricately decorated cleaning
The moon was high in the sky, and relished in the absolute strength and power that it glanted me
Soon the music became louder and the dance floor was full of ples and tricusly dancing together.

It was my chance.
I took a glance at Daria who sat alone in the corner sipping wine and made my approach.
“Alpha Caleb,” she didn’t look surprised to see me and regarded me with mild amusement.

She must have taken one of the spiked punch from before, because her glass was empty and the slight scent of alcohol was on her. Not enough to make her blackout drunk though, I noticed from the unwavering and unfazed gaze she gave me.
Just enough to loosen her up a bit.
“Enjoying yourself?”
“Sabrina said I should stay a bit longer. Trust me I’m already all out of patience, so I took a bit of a drink,” she raised her glass with a small smile.
I nodded and then reached my hand out and calmly took the empty glass from her. She didn’t react, and only stared at me unblinkingly.
“Then perhaps you would favour me with a dance tonight,” I requested as gently as I could.
She looked frozen and her lips turned down a little before she looked away, folding her arms.
“Why should I agree to such a thing? People will talk, and I have no intention of gracing the lips of everyone tonight as a topic.”
The rueful tone in her lips wasn’t missed and I felt a pang of emotion that struck me out of nowhere. How long would I keep on regretting my actions? Forever, I supposed.
“Daria, you need to have a little more faith in our people,” I spoke soothingly.
“Not my people, Alpha Caleb. Yours. And they’re just as unpredictable as their Alpha is.”
“Then trust me, just the one time,” I replied smoothly. “One dance wouldn’t hurt.”
She paused, glancing at the dance floor. Another music was starting.
Slowly she took my hand and I smirked, gracefully leading her to the dance floor. All my instincts and memories of my dance lessons kicked in at this moment. I wasn’t about to fuck this up.
I was aware of everyone’s eyes on us but this time I didn’t give a fuck. What I wanted was to savour this moment and take one more step to pulling her closer to me.
“Happy?” She asked moments after. I leaned closer into her, inhaling her delicious scent mingling with a perfume I didn’t
know the name of.
“I am the happiest man in the pack right now, love,” I replied easily. She didn’t look convinced. Her lips parted and I couldn’t help my eyes moving to them.
Desire stirred up in me once again, and as I spun her around, I d my best to hold it down
Not now. I wasn’t going to be a fucking animal with her. I had ben so before.
She deserved a different side of me
The dance was all too short but each moment with her was like
different me altogether.
As the munir ended and another began I heard a loud shrill voice that made my teeth hurt and my fight or flight instinct kirked in instantly
