“What an embarrassment for our pack to have her in here.”
7 thought Alpha Caleb was courting her? Or has that entire thing ended?”
1 passed at bearing the last words from someone by the corner. It was clear to everyone that something had changed between Felicia and their respectable yet feared Alpha. But now he had the chance to make things clear.
My heart skipped at the thought.
Why did thinking of that give me hope for my future?
Shaking my head minutely I stepped backwards as Felicia growled like an animal cornered.
Hading my smirk and satisfaction was more difficult than I had expected but I managed it and, with a straight fact, turned to Calch
“I think I have overstayed my welcome.” I said softly. His gaze darkened even more as if I had set a bomb to explode.
“Elder Talen.” Caleb growled, and suddenly all fell silent. A chill ran down my spine. Such was the Alpha’s power.
I hated how much I loved it at times.
Even Elder Talen who prided himself on standing straight and unmoved like a rock, cowered slightly and cleared his throat while looking a little dazed.
“Alpha Caleb You have my apologies-”
“I have beard enough apologies from you. I believe I made it clear, that any thoughts of engagement between Lady Felicia and I are over
That was the fort blow delivered and the crowd ate it all up with fager cars and eyes. I was feeling a bit choked with a bearing sensation on my chest that didn’t case even when I placed my hand against it.

Still, that connection that gave me pause and lingered in my chest, made me wonder.
“I would appreciate it, Master Killian,” I replied.
We moved in tandem with one another and I felt like I was with brother or friend.

“I apologize for being involved with the party’s interruption,” I told him once we were out of the forest and on the well lit streets that were empty of people.
“You don’t have to apologize,” he chuckled. “I have heard of Lady Felicia before but I never expected she would be so… terrible. Her antics were amusing at best. Reminds me of why I don’t like women.”
His last sentence gave me pause and I turned to glance at him in surprise
“You… don’t like women?” I asked cautiously. If he didn’t want to alk about it then…
However he didn’t seem ashamed or embarrassed about it in any way. Instead he rolled his shoulders back and sighed.
“I have long come to terms with who I am. When I was younger did not care so much about finding a mate. Only once I began to grow older and watch everyone else find theirs did I understand why.”
Oh.
“It’s fine,” I said quietly, trying to assure him. I felt the need to show him that I wasn’t judgemental. He was still respected in my eyes, and still a strange source of familiar comfort I never expected.
“I actually found my mate a few years back,” he volunteered, easier than I expected. “Although he’s quite young. A few years older than you I believe.”
“That’s great,” I smiled at him. “Did you come to the festival with him? Maybe I could meet him.”
His expression shifted slightly to a pained one and then he said softly, “He disappeared on a mission a while ago. Since then I’ve been searching for him.”
“I…” I felt terrible now. Wishing I could sink into the ground I grasped his arm, and he looked at me. “I’m so sorry. I pray to the Goddess that you find him soon.”
Despite the morose topic, he still had the nerve to smile at me. Then, he raised his hand to ruffle my hair. I gaped at him in shock.
“You’re a good person, Daria. More than I expected. And yes, I will find him. I have an inkling that he might be closer than I
think.”
I was about to ask more, puzzled, when he cleared his throat and gestured to the door of the mansion. It struck me. We had arrived at my destination, and I had not noticed.
Unable to say any more, I bowed to Master Killian.
“Goodnight, and thank you,” I said to him.
He watched me enter the mansion before turning to leave. Once heard his stealth footsteps move further into the distance, I couldn’t help the deep feelings of curiosity and sorrow that eteed itself into my heart.
What was going on with me and Master Killian?
