Jessie watched as Alexander gradually lost consciousness and shut his eyes. Her frantically pounding heart finally calmed down. She momentarily lost the ability to think as she stared at him lying there quietly.
There was no denying that he was strikingly handsome, and he came from a prestigious family. Which woman wouldn't want to marry someone like him? If she could have his child…
Jessie soon banished the absurd thought from her mind. Who was to say that a single encounter would result in pregnancy? And even if it did, how could she possibly stand a chance against the powerful Sinclair family? They had countless ways to deal with her, and she would only end up with a worse fate.
Her sole intention was to get back at Isabella, anyway!
Jessie turned and left the room. As she reached the door of the private room where Isabella and the others were, she saw Isabella step out.
As their eyes met, Isabella asked, "Where's Alexander? You took him to change his clothes, right? Why is it taking so long?"
Jessie remained composed and said, "I was just coming to tell you that Mr. Sinclair had too much to drink and fell in the bathroom. It looks like he might've broken something. I've already called an ambulance; I came to let you know."
"He had too much to drink?" Isabella frowned. Alexander hadn't drunk much earlier. Why was he suddenly drunk?
"I could smell the alcohol on Mr. Sinclair when I took him to the room earlier," Jessie said.
Isabella was skeptical but said, "Alright. I'll have Theodore check on him."
As she turned to head back inside the room, Jessie stopped her. "Mr. Sinclair is alone in the room now, and he refused my help. I think you should check on him first. I'll go inform the others inside."
Isabella glanced at her, and she continued, "You know how Mr. Sinclair is. Would he let me touch him? He'd rather drag himself from the bathroom than let me help him. I'm just worried he'll hurt himself further."
Isabella frowned, recalling how Alexander had gotten injured when saving her before. His wounds probably hadn't healed yet, and getting injured again now could make things worse. With his stubborn personality, he would indeed refuse Jessie's help.
"Alright. Give me the room key," Isabella said.
Jessie handed her the keycard.
She took it. After some thought, she said, "Tell only my husband about this. There's no need to make a scene."
Jessie nodded. "Got it."
Isabella left to look for Alexander. She stood at the door, hesitating before swiping the keycard. Then, she pulled out her phone and called Theodore. He soon answered.
"Isabella!" Theodore's voice rose with alarm on the other end of the line.
The darkness consumed Isabella's vision. Her knuckles whitened as she gripped her phone tightly. She heard Theodore say, "Don't panic! I'm almost there!"
She heard hurried footsteps through the phone, followed by Theodore's steady command. "Open the door!"
Isabella froze and instinctively turned to the door. She didn't hear anything from the outside, and a bad feeling crept up on her.
"Bella, are you in there?" Theodore asked anxiously.
Isabella started to panic. Her voice trembled as she asked, "Which room are you at?"
"Room 1608."
Her heart sank. "I'm in Room 1608… but I don't hear anything outside."
