Theodore's attention first went to Isabella, seemingly to examine her condition. Other than the fact that she had Alexander's jacket over her, she didn't seem to have any external injuries. After ascertaining that, he turned his attention to Alexander.
Even when he saw that his nephew was severely beaten up, he maintained an indifferent look on his face. He simply instructed Caleb, "Take Alexander to the hospital."
"Will do, Mr. Theodore."
With the help of two bodyguards, Alexander was carried out of the private room. After everyone left, a terrifying silence fell over the room once again.
Isabella froze to the spot. The warmth from Alexander's jacket lingered on the tips of her fingers even though the air conditioning in the private room brought about a coldness that prickled her skin.
Subconsciously, she clenched the hem of her blouse. When she lifted her eyes, she found herself looking right into Theodore's eyes. His gaze was devoid of his usual warmth, and he looked like he was examining an object. A chill went down her spine.
"Are you hurt?" he asked.
While his gaze was obviously frigid, he couldn't help but soften his tone when he spoke to her.
She shook her head, then gathered her clothes gently.
Theodore noticed that subtle movement of hers. Suddenly, he stepped forward, extended his arm, and removed Alexander's jacket, which she had over her.
When he saw that all she had underneath was a bra while her blouse had been torn and flung to the floor, he frowned. Speedily, he removed his own suit jacket and put it on her.
He did so extremely gently, as if he were handling something fragile. Carefully, he straightened the collar of his suit jacket and pulled his jacket around her until he was sure that her shoulders were completely covered.
His suit jacket carried a faint scent of cedarwood, a scent that was similar to Alexander's. However, for some strange reason, Theodore's scent felt more reassuring, allowing the tension within Isabella to ease a little.
"H-How did you know that I was here?" she asked in a soft voice.
Theodore answered, "I tried calling you a few times, but I couldn't get through. When I checked with the receptionist, they said that they saw you heading out toward the passageway. So, I figured that you were going to the mall across the street.
"But I still couldn't get through to you. I was worried about you, so I got help with checking the surveillance footage."
Isabella was stunned. He checked the surveillance footage even though he had only lost touch with her for a short moment? Why was he on such high alert?
Theodore took the paper bag and handed it over to Isabella. He pointed to the lounge beside them, saying, "Go ahead and get changed in there. Lock the door. Just give me a shout if you need anything."
Isabella accepted the paper bag from him, got to her feet, and turned around to head to the lounge.
Caleb had left by the time she got changed and emerged from the lounge. She and Theodore were the only ones left in the private room.
Now that she felt much better, she sat down next to Theodore. "Those people from today aren't the masterminds. They're just working for someone else."
Theodore replied, "Yup."
"It was a premeditated abduction, targeted at me and Alexander."
Theodore nodded. He comforted her, saying, "Leave it to me. I'll settle it, okay?"
Isabella, however, was still angry and frustrated. "Not many people know about my relationship with Alexander. They wanted to take photos of us sleeping together. What were they going to do with those photos?"
