Claimed by the Crown Heir novel Chapter 72

"Theodore, I just think my experience surpasses hers. It's truly too heavy a burden for her," Giselle said, pressing her lips together in a feigned display of maturity. "Even if she landed the project through sheer luck, if she messes up the execution, Vittini will still terminate their contract with us. It's better to hand the Vittini transition over to me. I promise I won't let anyone down."

This was daylight robbery.

Vanessa let out a soft laugh and met her gaze. "Giselle, don't be so desperate. Even if I handed the project to you, you wouldn't be able to hold onto it. You probably didn't read the contract carefully. Clause twenty-one clearly states that if I am not personally in charge of this project, the agreement is automatically voided."

She had anticipated Giselle pulling a stunt like this and had secured this safety net with Elena in advance.

Giselle's expression drastically shifted as she frantically flipped to clause twenty-one.

Upon reading that line, all the color drained from her face.

The executives who had voiced their opposition moments ago fell completely silent after reading the stipulation.

Vanessa's tone was light, but every word struck a nerve.

"If everyone truly believes Giselle is more capable of being Vice President, I certainly won't fight her for it."

"Worst case scenario, we just drop this project entirely."

"I just don't know if Giselle can afford to compensate all of you for the financial loss."

She spoke casually, yet every sentence expertly plucked at their most sensitive financial strings.

"Giselle, a bet is a bet. You can't back out of a promise!"

Harvey Huntington quickly changed his tune, turning back to George without a trace of his former stubbornness. "George, let's proceed with your arrangement. Seniority isn't everything. We trust in Vanessa's abilities."

The speed at which this old fox switched sides left even Vanessa secretly impressed.

Once most of the people had cleared out, Giselle marched right up and blocked her path.

"Vanessa, you clearly secured the Vittini agency rights ages ago. Why didn't you say anything?"

"I don't believe I'm obligated to report my every move to you," Vanessa said, a cool smile playing on her lips. "You lack the skill, so you resorted to underhanded tactics to turn the board against me. If I hadn't been prepared, you really would have gotten your way today."

Giselle's eyes reddened with fury. "What methods did you use to make Elena cooperate with you?"

"You want to know?"
